AI use in creative professions is bad for humanity in all ways. There is no positive long-term outcome for anyone but the richest 1%. Resist! I have never and will never use AI in my work. I'm actually not quite sure if Chat GPT is an app or a website (or both?) and I've never bothered to find out. by @tettixgames

It’s pretty incredible that the final days of the Personal Demons campaign landed during World Mental Health Day. 🧠

This game is all about facing your fears, identifying your personal demons, and finding the courage to conquer them.

True to style, designer Judson Cowan delivers his signature 90s-style gross, weird art, but this dude does everything with intention! If I’m in good company to nerd out here, his rulebooks are by far the most gorgeous I’ve ever laid eyes on, and I’ve read a lot!

If you aren’t into horror art, I get why you’d first want to skip it. But it’s what makes the theme so perfect. Personal demons are disturbing. Whether it’s addiction, jealousy, fear, or anxiety, we all face them. We think we’ve sealed them away, but we’re human and seals break. It can be a lifelong battle, but just like this game, each round gives you the courage to keep fighting.

For many of us, board games are a powerful coping mechanism. Some of you know my story: after losing my father to alcoholism, I needed to feel like a child again. I needed something tactile to bring me joy! Board games were my answer, alongside therapy and a season of anti-anxiety medicine. They became my way of connecting with all of you ❤️ and my goodness I’m so grateful to have met you!

That’s why I started this account. Games can be a tangible tool to boost the mood meter. I had a ton of fun playing this one, even though I was squirming with the art! But with that came a moment of revelation 👉 to grow, you can’t stay comfy. You gotta face your demons.

"Threadbare and All Alone"

For me this evokes feelings of overwhelm, burnout, imposter syndrome & isolation - Personal Demons.

The pressure of content creation: keeping up with posts, reviews and the latest trends can all lead down the burnout path & feeling like you aren't good enough. Especially when focusing on numbers, the views, the followers, the "oh that's only got 20 likes but I spent hours on it".

I have definitely felt all of those things to a certain extent since starting our board game account but I like to think that I can manage it better now.

Things that help me are:

☀️ Keeping notes of ideas for content & creating them when I feel up to it & have the headspace

☀️ Having a list of games and when their deadlines are (I usually give us 4-6 weeks from receiving any reviews copies, but this obviously changes with any publisher requirements)

☀ Saying no to review copies when you know life is busy or you already have committed to other games.

☀️ Making content on games you really love - sometimes playing games in our collection that I adore inspire something when I've stepped away from just reviews.

☀️ Just having a break, a break from content maybe a break from playing games just stepping back & giving yourself space and time really helps

☀️ Having a good old moan or rant to get whatever's on your mind out in the open

☀️ Trying not to compare my content to others. I know it's hard but your followers follow you because they like your content - do your thing & own it!

I have featured Personal Demons in this post and I love everything about this game. Today I want to mention the theme, it's about battling your inner demons - your mental health. The gameplay includes positive player interactions, so you can trigger benefits for other players e.g. gaining courage (which could be a new ability or scoring objective). Personal Demons encourages you to be open about mental health & is focused around a healing ritual experience which is a pretty unique but a very important theme.

We've only played once but have backed it on Kickstarter - which is still live, go check it out if you're intrigued!
