POSTS STORIES REELS

An almost mythical presence within the crowd. Evelyn Anastasiou’s STAY PUNK! captures the freedom to imagine yourself otherwise. In TWELFTH NIGHT, punk becomes a space where everyday roles loosen and other ways of being become possible.

On view at The Edit Gallery until 14 November.

Currently on view at The Edit Gallery as part of Evelyn Anastasiou’s TWELFTH NIGHT.
Drawing on the visual language of post-war film musicals, these two works transform familiar cinematic imagery through an intense fluorescent yellow, creating a tension between nostalgia and disruption.

Displayed side by side, the works evoke consecutive film stills, introducing a sense of cinematic sequence and movement into an otherwise static image. Their repetition recalls the visual rhythm of film while exploring the relationship between painting, cinema and the spectacle of entertainment.

TWELFTH NIGHT
Evelyn Anastasiou
24 October – 14 November 2026
The Edit Gallery

What connects the staged worlds of the post-war film musical with the raw energy of punk?

Drawing on her research into the Finnish punk scene and the Puntala-Rock festival, Evelyn Anastasiou brings these cultural forms into dialogue. Through photographs, screenprints and sculptural works, TWELFTH NIGHT explores how theatrical illusion and acts of defiance give expression to social unease—and the desire for another reality.

Opening Saturday, 24 October | 18:30–22:00

The opening evening extends across Pattihio Municipal Theatre, its courtyard and The Edit Gallery, with a live concert by Finnish punk band HAUTAUSTOIMISTO at 20:00 in the theatre courtyard. by @the_editgallery

Last days of my show ‘Carriers’ @the_editgallery
Thank you to everyone who has visited and supported the show 🪼🐍🪲🐚🦪

Bloom, 2026, glazed stoneware, 51 x 35 x 11 cm

At the centre of Carriers is the act of carrying: to hold, contain, protect and nourish. Rowan’s clay torsos take the form of vessels, breastplates and protective shells, exploring the relationships between bodies and the environments they inhabit.

Drawing on pregnancy, breastfeeding and the transition into motherhood, the works incorporate references to placentas, milk ducts and the bodily structures through which nourishment and exchange take place. Across the series, human anatomy merges with botanical, fungal and marine forms: ribs become aloe vera leaves, milk ducts bloom like flowers, and branching patterns recall roots and nervous systems. Maternal experience becomes a lens through which Rowan considers a condition shared by all living beings: bodies are interdependent and continually shaped by their surroundings.

Protection and vulnerability coexist throughout the works. The sculptures evoke breastplates shaped around the female body, while the clay from which they are made is hard yet inherently fragile. Their lustrous, shell-like surfaces recall oysters, organisms that filter their environments while recording traces of the waters they inhabit.

Moving between anatomy and plant life, armour and vessel, Carriers explores what bodies hold, what they pass on, and how caring for one body is inseparable from the conditions of the world around it. by @the_editgallery

Today we are sharing Carriers, a solo exhibition by Hannah Rowan at The Edit Gallery in Limassol, Cyprus. We recently exhibited Hannah’s work in FLOOD at Messums West.

Developed during a period of research and production in Cyprus, Carriers presents a new body of ceramic sculptures exploring the act of carrying: to hold, contain, protect and nourish. Rowan’s clay torsos take the form of vessels, breastplates and protective shells, bringing together references to anatomy, plant life and marine forms.

Moving between protection and vulnerability, the exhibition continues Rowan’s investigation into bodies, water and material transformation, asking what bodies carry, what they pass on, and how they remain connected to the living world around them.

Ecdysis 1 & 2, Glazed stoneware on view for my solo show CARRIERS @the_editgallery

Ecdysis. The title for this series (within a series ‘Carriers’) derives from the biological term used to describe reptilian and anthropod shedding of skins, hard cuticles or rigid exoskeletons that cannot stretch as the animal grows. Thus they must shed periodically to expand, allow for growth and development or to undergo metamorphosis. by @the_editgallery

Art has the ability to completely transform the atmosphere of an interior. It adds character, creates emotion and gives a space a sense of identity that goes beyond architecture and furniture.

At Belle Air, we see artwork as an essential part of interior design — something that creates a focal point, adds depth and makes a home feel truly personal.

One of the artworks featured in our interiors is How to Enjoy the Terrible Truth (2026), an oil painting by Cypriot artist Maria Hadjiloizou, selected in collaboration with @the_editgallery. With its vivid palette, dreamlike imagery and expressive composition, the painting brings emotional depth into the space, creating a dialogue between contemporary art and the surrounding architecture.

Don’t miss the chance to experience Limassol Art Walks, taking place from October 9–11 in the historic centre of Limassol. Discover 19 galleries and cultural spaces across the city, including @the_editgallery, and explore a diverse programme of exhibitions, performances and contemporary art. Admission is free!

For one evening, three neighbouring locations in central Limassol become part of a single happening. Conceived by visual artist Evelyn Anastasiou, TWELFTH NIGHT unfolds across Pattihio Municipal Theatre, its public courtyard, and The Edit Gallery, located directly opposite. The audience is invited to move freely between the three locations.

The title is drawn from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, or What You Will. Shaped by the tradition of misrule, disguise and mistaken identities, the play temporarily overturns established hierarchies and loosens social conventions. Anastasiou similarly unsettles the conventional roles, allowing identities and functions to shift.

The project marks the first appearance of HAUTAUSTOIMISTO in Cyprus. Emerging from Tampere’s contemporary hardcore scene, the band brings its raw punk energy to Limassol.

Nipple Shields, 2026

The nipple shield was one of the starting points for Hannah Rowan’s Carriers.

Used for centuries, with examples dating back to at least the 1500s, nipple shields have historically been made from materials including silver, glass, ivory, wood and beeswax, intimate objects designed to protect the breast and support breastfeeding.

Rowan reimagines this functional object in ceramic, transforming it into something bodily and almost talismanic. Repeated in pairs across the gallery wall, the works speak to the wider language of Carriers: nourishment, protection, vulnerability and the body as a vessel for giving and receiving.

On view until 17 October 2026.

A tree is a river bound in bark, 2026

In A tree is a river bound in bark, Hannah Rowan draws parallels between the human body and the living systems of the natural world. Branching forms across the ceramic torso evoke veins, milk ducts, roots and waterways, dissolving the boundaries between human anatomy and botanical structures.

The work considers the body not as something closed or self-contained, but as a vessel and a carrier, a living system defined by circulation, nourishment and exchange. Unglazed ceramic chains extend from the body, suggesting connection, dependency and the act of carrying.

Like a tree whose seemingly solid exterior contains a constant flow of water and nutrients, Rowan’s body is both container and conduit: bounded, yet always connected to what exists beyond it.
