Summer 2026--you were chaos in the best way possible. Epic date nights, screaming with Slightly Stoopid, DENM, and The Elovaters, sweating out miles at the Mountaineer 10-Miler, beach time at Emerald Isle, a full suspension refresh on the BMW, crossing the finish at Around the Crown 10k, and riding camels in Morocco (just last week!). However my sweat glands have filed a formal complaint and I'm bidding the heat adieu in favor of some crisp morning runs, PSL's, and jacket weather. Autumn, the floor is yours, let's see what you have in store for us. #firstdayoffall #summerdump #autumnvibes by @thebryanmontgomery
Every corner is saturated. Oodles of quick cuts, zero color grading—the Blue Pearl really is just built like that. 💙 Our camera roll never stood a chance against these alleys. Just bunches of rapid-fire frames of pure, unedited Moroccan blue. No edits needed. 📍 Chefchaouen, Morocco #chefchaouen #morocco #thebluepearl #visitmorocco #chefchaouenmorocco by @thebryanmontgomery
Today in Fez, we were made to feel like both celebrities and locals touring with Amal—she operates woman-owned Fez Guided Tours (@fezguidedtours) the first certified female guide in the city, and rightfully celebrated in Lonely Planet. She is pure high-energy with a deep knowledge of everything Fes; the soul of Morocco genuinely runs through her veins. Our walk was equal parts deep cultural history and an unreal street food marathon through the maze of Fes el-Bali’s 9,500 alleyways. In between historic sites, we ran the culinary gauntlet: fresh-pressed cane juice with ginger and lime, warm bakery treats, endless traditional sweets, spiced kefta, grilled liver, soups, and smoothies. We literally ran out of room in our bellies. The warmth we felt from the locals across the medina was incredible, and we have Amal to thank for opening those doors. We’ve taken tours all over the world, but this one sits right at the top. If you’re planning a trip, take our advice: spend more time in Fes than in Marrakech. #FesMorocco #FesElBali #VisitMorocco #MoroccoTravel #FezMedina MoroccanStreetFood FoodieTravel WomenWhoTravel LonelyPlanet CulturalTravel ExploreMorocco MoroccanCuisine TravelDeeper by @thebryanmontgomery
Thursday night done right. FRONT ROW. DENM, The Elovaters, and Slightly Stoopid brought the absolute heat to Live Oak Bank Pavilion. Cold drinks, great tunes on the riverfront, and the best concert partner. Vacation mode: fully activated. 🎶🌊 #SlightlyStoopid #TheElovaters #DENM #WilmingtonNC #FrontRow by @thebryanmontgomery
There are those who might say a 52-year-old man should take it easy, but whoever "those" are clearly haven' met my stubborn streak. 1 week ago today, I officially crossed the finish line of the Mountaineer 10-Miler, completing what I had internalized as my "Kaizen" project—continuous, relentless improvement. It all started months ago with a wild idea, a #Garmin watch, and a #Runna training plan. Along the way, there were plenty of fitness challenges (and, let’s be honest, some incredibly dumb assumptions on my part). I learned the hard way that you can't just power through single-leg Romanian deadlifts and "dead bug" core exercises without your body questioning your life choices the next morning. Then came the nutrition logistics. If you had told me a year ago that I’d be meticulously timing high-protein supplements and slamming down carbohydrate gels like they were fine wine, I would have laughed. But when you're staring down double-digit mileage on a mountain, carbs are life. Through every agonizing hill sprint and early morning struggle, Sharon was there to keep me grounded, deal with my endless pace-metric complaints, and remind me that, yes, I actually chose to do this for fun. Look, I’m no Olympian, and the course definitely threw its worst at us with some brutal elevation gains. My final time ended up resulting in an average pace of 9:57 per mile (much faster hadn't it been for that final climb!). But hey, against all the odds (and the incline), I managed to set new personal records for both my 5k and 10k splits during the run! Best of all, I landed right in the top half of my bracket—placing 5th in the Males 50-54 age cohort. I'll take it! Because I clearly can't sit still, the finish line just unlocked the next level of crazy. Up next, I’m officially signing up for the Charlotte Half Marathon! I’m also already anticipating the Around the Crown 10k come Labor Day, and because memory lapses are real, I’ve decided to sign up for next year’s Mountaineer 10-Miler "double-down" challenge—the 4-miler plus the 10-miler. Someone check on Sharon, she’s going to need a lot of patience (and maybe some craft beer) to help me survive this by @thebryanmontgomery
Somehow, training for a 10-miler requires running 12 miles, someone explain that to me. Anyways here's Bryan's final steps, wrapping up the twelfth mile of his training run Saturday. It's the longest he's ever run, and is kinda the pinnacle of his training for the @mountaineer10miler taking place in Boone on June 14th. All subsequent runs will be shorter than this one ... but next Saturday he still needs to run eleven miles, he's not super excited about it, haha. #mountaineer10miler #10miler #ncrunning #mountainrunner #runNC by @thebryanmontgomery
@runna is my training assistant for the upcoming @mountaineer10miler and it's been going really well. Since starting with the app in January I've clocked 111 miles. That's not a typo. Yesterday it had me down for an 'easy 6.5 mile run' (which would be my single longest run to date). Ordinarily, this doesn't sound easy. AND I'm in the mountains, which is supposed to add to the rigor. But I was really looking forward to my first 'bigger' run in the mountains (since this is where the race will take place), and decided on a run around Bass Lake/Moses Cone area in Blowing Rock. Elevation 3400-3700 feet and perfect running weather. I was a little shocked by the result. I feel like I only got an on or off button, 'easy' just doesn't live here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Somebody help me pick out a new watch and give recco's for new running shoes, my Hoka One One's are spent I'm already signed up for the @aroundthecrown10k later this year. Should I sign up for the @charlottemarathon for a half marathon? by @thebryanmontgomery
Bright and early this morning, we got up and completed a holiday 5k fun-run! A highlight for me was achieving a personal best! I've never been much of a runner--those who know me know this already. I've always contended that "I'm built for comfort, not for speed." My old self paced about a 13-minute mile (because I pretty much would run-walk). Sharon would outpace me so horribly (not that I have a problem with that, but my competitive side told me that I can put in some additional effort) ... and my how the tables have turned! She's such a good sport about it, and SO encouraging, which I just love 💕 The chip time from my bib this morning said 28:48.8! While I didn't hit my goal of 9-minute splits, I wasn't far off at 9' 16" ... I placed: * 199th overall (out of 994 participants). * 137th male (out of 418 males of every age), * 15th! male out of 41 males aged 50-54, and * 19th out of 100 people of any gender aged 50-54. I'm really pleased with this run. Got bit by the runners bug I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ... I'm sure I will continue this trend. #KruegerReindeerRomp5K #PRrun #5KFinisher #RaceDaySuccess #NewPersonalBest #RunnersHigh #Fastest5K #ProudRunner #HarrisYMCA #CharlotteRunning #ReindeerRomp #FunRun #RunningJourney #FitnessMilestone #ConsistentEffort #StrongerEveryDay #HealthAndWellness #FitAt51 #RunningMotivation #RunHappy #InstaRunners #5k #RunnerLife by @thebryanmontgomery
Standing on top of Shibuya Sky above Tokyo is a whole other level of viewing this amazing city. The 360-degree open-air observation deck gives you the best views of the city's neon lights and famous scramble crossing from 230 meters up. We went to visit The Roof Shibuya Sky last night and it was absolutely stunning, especially paired with a glass of bubbly. The city's energy from up high is unreal. 🥂 #ShibuyaSky #TokyoView #Shibuya #ShibuyaScramble #TokyoNight #JapanTravel by @thebryanmontgomery
I FORGOT TO SAY THAT THIS IS IN JAPAN, specifically Tokyo, but no matter at this point. This is for all of the 'konbini' enthusiasts out there. I agree that the konbini's (FamilyMart, 7-eleven, Lawson) in Japan have earned a devout cult following for myriad valid reasons. The 7-eleven egg salad sammich isn't horrible and not particularly adventurous, but had heard from more than one source to give it a go, but go for the onigiri instead if you can. REALLY friggin' good. 📷 Cred to my lady @sheddyshippy for all the videoing 💡 Cred to @chrissiemckq for the idea! #japantravel #konbini #7eleven #eggsaladsandwich #lawson by @thebryanmontgomery
More flavors than you can shake a stick at (who the hell even uses that phrase anyways, yeah I just used it don't judge). Don't worry, I'll bring enough home for all of you. STORY: Kit Kats became incredibly popular in Japan after Nestlé realized the candy bar's name sounds like the Japanese phrase "Kitto Katsu," meaning "you will surely win". This cultural connection transformed the product into a good luck charm, especially for students before exams, leading to innovative marketing campaigns and unique, regional flavors that deeply integrated Kit Kat into Japanese society. #themoreyouknow #kitkat #kittokatsu #japantravel #kitkatflavors by @thebryanmontgomery
Not shitting. The one and only @pringles store in the universe. It's in Osaka, Japan. I mean who even knew there was such a thing? Or that it was needed? But now I know 2 things: 1) there is such a thing. 2) it's needed. Thank you, universe, for bringing me here. #PringlesStore #Osaka #Donpen #JapanSouvenir #JapanEats by @thebryanmontgomery
