This year, as The Clay Loft approaches its 9th birthday, we are hiring a new Studio Manager. As @tkjpots begins a new adventure he is looking to recruit and train (if necessary) someone to run this hugely popular studio and to nurture its beautiful community of makers. This role will be ideal with someone that has already got experience as a studio technician and is looking to take the next step to lead a thriving pottery studio. The Clay Loft has a full membership body, fully booked classes and a busy schedule of weekend masterclasses as well as annual open studios. The role is full-time and includes a personal studio space adjacent to The Clay Loft. Some really lovely little thrown and turned bottles patiently waiting on the shelves for their bisque firing. The potter making these (@elisetinnsmith ) has mastered both the mechanical skills of manipulating clay and the eye for truly beautiful form. It is always such a joy surveying the shelves for beautiful creations. by @theclayloft

One studio, so many unique styles.

Tomorrow we will say farewell to @adrian_bates_ceramics who has been the tutor here at @theclayloft since we opened our doors in 2018. Adrian has been a guiding force in all that the studio has done and although leaving g us for a new adventure his influence will always remain. If any of our past or present members or Adrian’s class members would like to pop in tomorrow 1230 -1400 we will have an informal gathering to mark the occasion. taken in The Clay Loft by @theclayloft

What a great and truly inspiring weekend with @chriskeenanceramics @theclayloft this weekend. Massive thanks to Chris and to the group who were just brilliant! We even sneaked in an outing after the class on Saturday to go to @fresh_beerco where Chris gave a talk with slides on his career and inspiration over a beer or two. Firing success for students work from my masterclass weekend @theclayloft in February 🤗
Some of the students took their work away, so I’m looking forward to seeing their results too
Everyone had fun and worked hard - it was lovely to see such spirited pieces of work 👏
Thanks to Tom for hosting so brilliantly and for doing such a careful firing 🙏
The Original Craft Crank from @potclays is so nice to sculpt with and has such a low shrinkage rate that inspires confidence in drying and firing. Basically it works 👍
My next teaching weekend is @townhouseceramics 27/28 June - can’t wait!

Our April course bookings are now open on our website so please have al ok if you’d like to come along.

We are extremely luck to have @nancy_taylor_ceramics joining our team and she will be running the Ceramics for All Abilities class next term on a Tuesday evening. The class is a 12 week dive into both hand-building and throwing and is perfect for total beginners as well as for those returning to clay and looking for refresher tuition.

Nancy’s work encompasses both throwing and hand building and focuses on clean, simple shapes inspired by industry, with colours from the local landscape. She has taught in studios in London and Manchester as well as in educational settings. Nancy has had her studio here at the Clay Loft for the past three years and regularly exhibits at ceramics shows across the UK. by @theclayloft

An absolute triumph of a weekend. Such big thanks to Paul who was his usual gentle and inspiring self and to a wonderful group of people. The studio was absolutely at its best and it was just incredible to see the amazing work produced in just two days. by @theclayloft
