First time at Jont a couple months ago! This was also my first time at a 2 Michelin star restaurant. Truly a once in a life time experience. We added the wine and truffle pairing. Seriously can’t complain about a single dish. They packed us some little goodies to take home with some mint matcha that was delicious.🄰 It’s $375 per person so if you have the opportunity to check it out I HIGHLY recommend.

Frevo, a 1 michelin-starred restaurant hidden behind a painting (slide 14) was well executed from start to finish. Before seating, we waited in a small gallery with others for the 5 pm dinner. The ambiance was perfect for the intimate setting as there are only 16 seats at the chef’s counter with an open kitchen. It was dark but well lit. My favorite courses had to be the carrot dish & the yellowtail. We opted to add the Norwegian king crab to our experience and it was worth it. The crab went well side by side with the carrot dish. The flavors of the sauces were creative and memorable.
I love a sweet & salty dessert so the last two courses were the real highlights for me. The arugula ice cream was a pleasant surprise. I did not expect to enjoy that as much as I did. What truly elevated the experience was the top notch service. Every single time I needed to get up from my seat there was always somebody to pull my chair out and escort me. Every time I came back to my seat my area was cleaned up and my cloth was neatly folded, waiting for me. I’d even say the level of service met the standard I’d expect from a 2 Michelin-star restaurant. Overall, Frevo delivered a beautifully curated dining experience with excellent service and several standout dishes. While not every course was for my palate, the creativity, execution, and hospitality made it a memorable meal that I’d happily recommend.

Went to Makoto during F1 weekend. I was really excited to try it since it’s been on my list for some time now but I can’t lie, i was let down a bit. The flavors were fine but nothing special. What caught me off guard though was the fish did not taste very fresh to me. I will say though the service was speedy and lovely. I usually get a lot of rude servers in miami but our server was pretty pleasant and checked on us often. It would have been nice to go for lunch and shop around bal harbour but we came for dinner and it was still a vibe. The food was a little overhyped but the vibes were immaculate.

i finally had the pleasure of dining at kappo dc last night. this spot has been on my list to try for a while now and i was not let down. they have certainly earned that michelin star. service, food & atmosphere were exceptional.
the restaurant offers an 8 course wagyu-centric tasting menu with 21 seats available. i came for the 9pm seating without regrets. it was personable and intimate as it was just me and a beautiful couple sitting beside me at the chef’s counter.
they announce and thoroughly describe every course that comes out; listing ingredients, where they come from & how they prepared each dish. i opted for the caviar add on($130). you may also add uni but the wagyu steak course came with a bit, which to my surprise i actually enjoyed even though i’m not the biggest uni fan.
the dishes that stood out to me the most were their wagyu yawata-maki, sashimi & wagyu steak. they would serve one piece of wagyu with ossetra caviar & the other with kaluga. i always found that the one with kaluga had a better taste. the palate cleanser on the spoon also stood out to me, it was very refreshing & did it’s job well.
the wagyu was so tender and just melts in your mouth. the sashimi was pristine & fresh. the dessert was fine, could have maybe been a bit more creative though. my only other small concern is that the spoon they give you for the miso soup gets really hot if you leave it in the bowl so be careful because i burned my tongue. šŸ˜‚
other than that i had a lovely experience & will be coming back soon ā£ļø

Had a unique experience at Sushi Nakazawa (1āļø) in Washington DC. We opted for the Chef’s omakase which included all the supplements. The otoro tuna had to have been my favorite nigiri piece of the night. It’s so buttery and just melted in my mouth. The dinner took about two hours but didn’t feel rushed nor prolonged. This was the first restaurant I ate out at since I got back from my Japan trip & I felt like I was back there all over again. If you’re looking for a nicely curated, authentic omakase experience, Sushi Nakazawa is the spot. ā˜ŗļø

Swipe to see me eat rose chocolate off my hands šŸ˜›

Went to El Cielo DC for their tasting menu ā€œThe Experienceā€ and wow the food was amazing. My favorites were definitely the Chocotherapy, Tree of Life, and the Cherry Blossom dessert. Super fun and delicious.

That said, the service wasn’t quite what I’d expect from a restaurant like this. I mentioned my peanut allergy several times, but one of the courses still came out with a peanut sauce. They brought out a substitution for me quickly, but honestly, I think it shouldn’t have been brought out in the first place given the severity of my allergy.

Overall: Food = 9/10, Service = good but not the best I’ve ever had.

Pineapple & Pearls šŸ“
I finally have the time to go through my drafts and I wanted to share that I got to try Pineapple & Pearls, overall it was a fun experience. The second course (gnocchi & Mont-Blanc pasta) and the fourth course desserts were the stars of the night. The rest of the food was fine, but nothing mind blowing.
The service was flawless (10/10), and I loved the martini tower, super fun and memorable. Food for me was more of a 7/10, but the vibe and hospitality definitely made the night special. I really enjoyed talking to the lovely staff here.

La Maison feels like being invited to dinner at someone’s beautifully curated home, because you are. The space is cozy and intimate, tucked into a house owned by the couple who runs it, and that personal touch carries through the whole experience.
Everything we tried from the French menu was thoughtfully prepared and made with lots of love. The beef fillet was the standout — perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and balanced by its sides. Service was amazing, letting the food speak for itself.
It’s a place that’s more about intention. A strong 4/5. I’d definitely come back to see what’s on the next menu.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Moon Rabbit by Kevin Tiền, a concept-driven Vietnamese restaurant that left a lasting impression. We opted for the ā€œChef’s Visit to Vietnamā€ tasting menu, and the experience was truly wonderful. As someone of Vietnamese heritage, it was incredibly moving to see familiar flavors reimagined with such creativity and care.
The standout dishes for me were the first two appetizers, especially the crispy rice, which burst with flavor and texture in every bite. We also got the phở đặc biệt cocktail. While it wasn’t my personal favorite, I’m open to giving it another try in a different setting.
Overall, I would absolutely return. Moon Rabbit offers a thoughtful and delicious journey through Vietnamese cuisine.

Had a really solid meal at Din Tai Fung NYC. The baby BBQ ribs and pork soup dumplings easily won my heart. The ribs were tender and flavorful, the dumplings were the perfect temperature had that nice juicy bite.
We also tried a bunch of other dishes: chili wontons, shumai, cucumber salad, garlic green beans, bok choy, rice cakes, and fried rice. Everything was fresh and well-cooked, even if a few items were more simple than standout. The matcha milk tea was smooth and not too sweet and was a nice balance to the savory dishes. Everything was served family style so the portions were large. We had plenty of leftovers.
But the real surprise? The chocolate mochi dumplings. Warm, gooey, rich—easily one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time.

If you’re into Taiwanese food and well-made dumplings, this place is definitely worth checking out.

A a thoughtful experience, but not one that really stood out
Last night I tried the tasting menu at Tail Up Goat ($135 pp). While there were some high points, overall the meal fell short of expectations compared to other one Michelin star establishments I’ve been to.
The highlight of the 5 courses was surprisingly simple: the crudité with white miso and soy dip. The vegetables were incredibly fresh, flavorful and elevated in a way that made them memorable. The mascarpone ravioli with pistachio was another dish that stood out.
The other courses, however, didn’t leave much of an impression. The crispy salt cod with cauliflower aioli, tuna crudo, and white asparagus with caviar were all pleasant but not particularly exciting. The focaccia with chickpeas, sunflower tahini, and smoked trout roe was fine, though nothing special. The steak frites felt more like a safe choice than a refined one.
Dessert was unfortunately underwhelming. The caramel flan cake with mandarin quats lacked flavor and was a bit dry. That said, the dessert wine pairing was excellent and ended the meal on a better note.
Nothing quite reached the level of complexity or depth I’ve come to expect from a Michelin-starred experience. I’m glad to have visited once, but I likely won’t be returning.
