“Almost fifteen years ago, Kirk & Erin started recording an album in Nashville, TN, produced by our dear friend and Druther Emeritus, Peter Rodocker, featuring many of the present-day Druthers, along with a bunch of other incredible musicians from Portland and Nashville. This Friday at midnight, that album—Soap & Water—is finally being released, and we couldn’t be more excited. We are so grateful to Peter and @yellowroomrecording for all of the work he put into this record over the years, and we can’t wait for you all to hear it.” taken in Alberta Street Pub by @thedruthers

Glen Hansard, the Irish songwriter, poet, storyteller and bard, was a musician’s musician. In the wake of his untimely passing on July 29th, 2026 from a motorcycle accident, Glen’s positive impact was seen in the outpouring of grief across the world. Portland friends and fans are gathering for a celebration of life and songs for Glen Hansard with a night of song and poetry from some of Portland’s favorite local songwriters at the Alberta Rose Theatre.

Featured performers include:
The Druthers
Olivia Awbrey
Dan Klee
Idea The Artist
Rebecca McDade
Margaret Wehr
Nathan James Earle
Chasing Ebenezer
Arran Fagan
Jacob Miller
and more!

Whether you’re new to Glen’s incredible catalogue, familiar with deep cuts from The Frames, or want to sing Falling Slowly in camaraderie with fellow fans, the evening will pay tribute to the arc of Glen’s work from beginning to end. Please join us to celebrate the long-lasting music of one of Ireland’s (and Portland’s) most well-loved musicians.

Rest In Peace, Glen.
