Augustinus and Keith are also making an appearance this Christmas!

Albus on this year's Christmas cards!

AUGUSTINUS

#robertoandfriends

It's been a while... but I finally made another friend for Roberto. Another monk who I named Augustinus. I am not sure how often I will make more friends for Roberto but we'll see. Taking it one doodle at a time. 😉

You can find the original Augustinus in the same window Roberto is residing in of the All Saints North street church in York (UK). I hope you like him. :D

ELIAS ❣️ #robertoandfriends

I named this lusciously bearded dude after my bootiful man. Though it’s not an exact portrait, the kind eyes and wavy hair are just dead on. The original stained-glass piece can be found in the St Williams window in York Minster and I added a bit of my own flair to the design. One day, when I have improved my skills, I’ll make a true portrait of my man ❤️ #theflemishprimitive #medieval #yorkminster #york #stainedglass #stainedglasspainting #doodle #art #digitaldrawing #linedrawing #lineart #graphicart #graphicdesign #illustration #handdrawn #photoshop #artist #digitalart #artgram by @theflemishprimitive

LORD BARNEBY

#robertoandfriends

And to complete the triptych of knights, here is Lord Barneby. Well technically he isn’t a knight yet. He is waiting for the king to accept his bribe. He did, however, already went ahead and bought the outfit. Though he feels a bit ridiculous in it and is seriously questioning whether he should have gone with the fancy chicken leg topper or not… Probably not ... #theflemishprimitive #drawing #barneby #lord #digitalart #lineart #illustration #drawing #linedrawing #art #digitaldrawing #tattooart #create #art #inkstagram #blackwork #medieval #medievalart #stainedglass #stainedglasspainting #doodleart #doodle #glassart #knight #sir #suitofarmour #armor #moping by @theflemishprimitive

SIR ALFRED

#robertoandfriends

Poor Sir Alfred has fallen asleep on the job. He’s probably dreaming of retirement. Time to hang up the chain mail and relax with some good matured mead.
Absolutely love this guy. The original photo I used was a bit blurry so I had to improvise more on the details which really helped me push my interpretive skills. Can’t wait to translate this one on to glass!

SIR GODRIC

#robertoandfriends

Introducing brave Sir Godric. His face is lined from the many battles he triumphed in and the persevered look in his eyes shows that he will not go down without a good fight.
I’m finally back after a little break, needed to prioritize some things. But I’m back at the drawing board and quite happy with Sir Godric here. I needed to improvise some bits of the kettle helmet and the gauntlet as some parts were either missing or obstructed by mending leads in the original stained-glass pieces. You can find Sir Godric in his full get-up in the tracery of the Great East Window of the York Minster.
More knights coming soon!

MO
#robertoandfriends

Another buddy for Roberto. This is Mordechai, aka Mo. And as you can tell, he's rather a mopey moody character. Mo can originally be found in a side staircase of Cologne Cathedral that's not accessible for the public. Maybe it's the lack of visitors that puts Mo in such a bad mood... #theflemishprimitive #roberto #mo #drawing #digitalart #blackink #lineart #illustration #drawing #linedrawing #art #digitaldrawing #tattooart #creat e#art #inkstagram #blackwork #medieval #medievalart #stainedglass #stainedglasspainting #metropolitanmuseum #MET#doodleart #doodle #oldman #glassart #colognecathedral by @theflemishprimitive

ALBUS

I named this wonderfully bearded king Albus. Maybe it’s the beard and that he is holding a ring (see previous post), or that I was listening the the sixth audiobook of Harry Potter… but he sure looks like an Albus regardless. Just imagine this fluffy dude with Professor Dumbledore’s funny tasseled hat and slightly blackened hand.
You can find the original king hidden in the Great East Window of the York minster (UK). The entire window is now completely online at https://stainedglass-navigator.yorkglazierstrust.org and you can zoom in on all of the amazing details. More GEW-characters to come for sure!! #theflemishprimitive #drawing #albus #harrypotter #digitalart #blackink #lineart #illustration #drawing #linedrawing #art #digitaldrawing #tattooart #create #art #inkstagram #blackwork #medieval #medievalart #stainedglass #stainedglasspainting #doodleart #doodle #glassart #GEW #greateastwindow #yorkminster #york by @theflemishprimitive

✨THANK YOU!✨ Thank you to everyone who has been liking my posts and started following my page! Mercietjes!

Apologies for two day radio silence. I have been stuck behind my sewing machine making loads of face masks. #COVID19
Soon I can continue my stained glass adventures.
