Leadership doesn’t always start with a big title or a promotion at work. Sometimes it starts when someone taps you on the shoulder and says, “I think you’d be really good at this.” And sometimes it starts when you decide to raise your own hand.

Join Faison Gibson, Sabrina Davis and Stephanie Lanier for a candid conversation about one of the best ways we know to become a better leader: actually getting in the room and doing the work. Nonprofit boards, government commissions, civic organizations, faith communities, PTOs, and community initiatives and committees all offer women opportunities to build the muscles of leadership in the real world. You learn by doing: making decisions, navigating the difficult conversations, working with people who don’t always agree, delivering results, and realizing along the way that you’re more capable than you thought.

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, 100% of the proceeds from this event will support a nonprofit serving children with cancer and their families, where Stephanie currently serves on the board and will become Vice Chair in 2027. The Inspiration Lab has set an ambitious goal of raising $7,500 to help fund travel for a child who needs to reach a clinical trial for treatment. For Stephanie, whose son Oliver is a kidney cancer survivor, this mission is deeply personal. We believe leadership is also about using the rooms we’re fortunate enough to be in to help others, and we can’t think of a better way to put that belief to work.

Sometimes leadership starts when someone taps you on the shoulder and says, “I think you’d be really good at this.” And sometimes, you have to raise your own hand.

Join us for a candid conversation about stepping into leadership through nonprofit boards, government commissions and community organizations: when to say yes, how to get involved, what we’ve learned by actually doing the work, and why you don’t have to feel completely ready before you begin.

Our Connection Breakfasts are back from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at Drift in Hanover Center.

These are small gatherings of just 6-7 women, led by Stephanie, and are a chance to get to know new faces and perhaps connect a little deeper with people you already know.

In a world of giant networking events and social media, sometimes six women around a table with coffee is exactly what we need.

The goal isn’t to exchange business cards or give elevator pitches. It’s simply a meaningful opportunity to genuinely get to know other women on a more personal level in an intimate setting where you can actually hear one another and see each other’s faces.

If that sounds fun, intriguing, or exactly what you’ve been looking for, we’d love to have you join us.

Your coffee, food, and drinks will be your expense, and it’s $12 to reserve your spot. In return, you’ll receive a swag bag of Inspiration Lab goodies, including one of our coffee mugs.

Today we celebrate our Christmas baby — my sweet Oliver, who turns 17 today. 💙
Most people don’t know this, but Oliver is the quiet heartbeat behind The Inspiration Lab.

Long before this community existed, there was just me — a working mom with a medically complex child, trying to hold life together.

I didn’t create The Inspiration Lab because I had it all figured out.
I created it because I needed inspiration too.

I needed reminders that hard things and beautiful things can share the same room.
I needed to know there were soft places to land in this world — and strong places from which to launch our ambitions.
I had a hunch that community mattered.
But Oliver is who taught me just how much.

He showed me what real courage looks like — the quiet, daily kind.
He deepened my capacity for contentment.

He expanded my understanding of strength, tenderness, and endurance.
And through him, my desire grew stronger to create a place where other women could be held, supported, and truly seen — not in spite of life’s complexities, but right in the middle of them.

So here we are:
Ten years of The Inspiration Lab.
Seventeen years of Oliver.
A Christmas baby who came home in 2008 and quietly shaped the way I lead, gather, and build — touching the lives of hundreds (maybe thousands) of women along the way… without ever knowing it.

What a precious gift.
What a miracle of a boy.
What a teacher he has been to me.

Happy Birthday, sweet Ollie.

Bonfires > Burnout

This quote stopped us in our tracks. Because this is what we believe at The Inspiration Lab: community changes everything.
You can get warm alone, but you stay warm when you’re surrounded by others who are also lit up with purpose, support, and encouragement.
We’re not meant to do life (or leadership or healing or growth) alone. The right circle? It keeps the fire going.
Let’s keep building that bonfire, together.
