What better day to share my summer dump than a wet and grey one! 😅🌧

In our latest episode of @podcast.fullofit, @larasphi and I catch up on what happened during our respective summers, including what we expected versus what actually happened - and why we were so damned busy!

Here, in no particular order:

1. My first festival, ever. I went to @lollapaloozade by myself to watch @uarmyhope. 💜
2. J-hooope, killing it.
3. A weekend trip to Amsterdam to see @jin.
4. What a dreamboat, even with an inflatable horse.
5. @bts.bighitofficial all came back from the military! (4 of 7 pictured)
6-10. The amazing women I get the privilege of spending time with.
11-12. So much ice cream from @amatoberlin this summer. 🤤🤤🤤
13-15. @jacobinetone and I held our first retreat in Italy and it was amaaaaaaazing. 😍😍
16. A quick visit to a Polish beach.
17. A thoughtful gift.
18. Nature doing its thing.

My sister wrote a memoir of her life and it's out now! I'm so damned proud of her. 🥹🥹🥹

This book is for you if you resonate with growing up as a minority, if you're a child of immigrants, if you struggled with your identity, or if you ache to know your parents. There are so many beautiful stories in this super-well written book (and I'm not at all biased!). 😁😁😁

I promise you'll love it. (And let me know just how much you love it!) 💛💛💛

Things that are bringing me joy lately:

1️⃣ Sun and warmth on my skin after what felt like an interminable winter.
2️⃣ Flying back to Toronto for my sister's book launch party and getting to spend time with my Phanmily and friends (follow my sister, @rachelmphan, and get her memoir! It's really, really good!).
3️⃣ I feel so privileged to help people come back to themselves through fitness and transformational coaching (thanks for the pic @nisharavji!).
4️⃣ Pistachio ice cream. Nothing beats that first lick.
5️⃣ Making my fur nephew, Elm, love me through excessive cuddles.
6️⃣ @esmopsi always has this effect on me.
7️⃣ Spring is springing! 🌼🏵🌸🌹

What's bringing YOU joy?? ✨️✨️✨️

I got rejected last year when I applied to work as a trainer in a gym. Their reason? I didn't have enough experience, which, tbh, was a valid point. 🤪

I was disappointed, but it was the catalyst I needed to finally do the 👏🏾 damned 👏🏾 thing. 👏🏾

How could I get the experience I needed? I created my own opportunity: I finally started my outdoor workouts, something I had been wanting to do for ages, but my fears had stopped me. My fear of no one coming. My fear that I didn't know enough. My fear of public speaking. But my desire to be a coach outweighed those fears.

I consistently showed up, not just for my clients, but for me. I was growing my confidence and showing myself that I could do it.

I didn't give up.

I found a mentor (shout-out to @dannyalvarado!), watched videos, did tutorials, attended hundreds of classes, and surrounded myself with incredible coaches who showed me what great coaching is.

And then I found #Kinara, a program designed to amplify BIPOC in the Berlin wellness space. I found myself surrounded by others who knew what it was like to be underrepresented and who wanted to make a significant impact in people's lives. We've spent the last three months, learning new skills, sharing our stories, and championing each other.

Now we want to share it with you! Join us on Saturday, March 29th, for an incredible event where we move, connect, and celebrate. There will be workshops, a panel discussion, food, drinks, and music! Link in my bio for details. 💛

Special thanks to @kunalgulati for everything he's done with and for us and @lululemoneurope for empowering the Kinara program.

And thank you to the coaches, instructors, and facilitators in the cohort with me. Y'all are everything! 🔥🔥🔥

After an unstable couple of years, 2024 finally gave me some stability and a sense that things were (finally) starting to look up. The year began with a long-anticipated trip back to where my parents were born and raised; it was my mum's first time back to Vietnam since she and dad fled in the late '70s.

My year just got better and better, surrounded by generous and loving people. I can't wait to see what 2025 brings! taken in Leamington, Ontario by @theladybona

BODY CELEBRATION CIRCLE

What an absolute honour and a joy to hold space for these incredible human beings. We celebrated our bodies, but with the perspective that this is just one aspect of our being. We practiced gratitude for all that our bodies do for us, even when we don't always treat them the way they deserve or need.

If you're interested in future Circles, DM me. Every time I hold one of these, I'm reminded of how powerful community is. Remember that you are not alone. 💛

How grateful I am to be surrounded by such beautiful and supportive friends. Many of these relationships have been nurtured for 10+ years.

London will always have a piece of my heart because of these humans. by @theladybona

My first waking thought the last three mornings has been, “I’m just supposed to live life without you now?”

@trixitassels, I miss you so much. To visit London and never see you again; to not get a chance to see the beautiful home that you bought and renovated yourself; to know that I won’t have anyone get annoyed about a terrible Hinge profile quite like you did…the list goes on and on. And my heart breaks into even smaller pieces for each experience I won’t get to share with you.

I first met you almost eleven years ago when @carolineamerican took me to dinner at your flat that you shared with @jywkelly. It was my birthday. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my gift was you. We clicked right away and when you found out that my visa was expiring in a few months, you immediately offered to marry me so I could stay in the country. I declined - neither of us were the marrying type - but we had the most glorious relationship, despite the fact that we haven’t lived in the same country in ten years.

We would often visit each other or meet in beautiful places. We’ve driven around Sardinia, lazed by the pool in Palma, cycled through tulip fields in Lisse, eaten our way through Berlin, and spent many a lazy morning in your lush garden in London - laughing and being silly the entire time. It's been almost two years since I've seen you in person and this was going to be the year when we would reunite. My ticket to London is booked for September.

You’re the rare human who is just so unabashedly authentic. I love that you knew so much and had an opinion on everything and weren’t afraid to voice it; on the flip side, you were open to hearing others' perspectives and having a conversation. You were the most get-shit-done, badass woman I knew and I was in awe of you. If you didn’t know how to do something, you’d learn - and then become a master at it. I once asked how you had such control over your boobs when tassel-twirling and you said, “It’s just practice, dude!” I don't think you knew just how incredible you were.

My Ivy Iverson. Beautiful, confident, sweet, quiet, gentle. When your mama – my sister – got you, you were so anxious and scared, but Rach gave you so much love and made you feel so safe that you flourished. You had your little idiosyncrasies like how you lifted your hind leg while you peed; how you would sniff around forever before you found the perfect spot to do your business; how you LOVED to roll around in fresh snow or newly-mown grass; and how you eschewed the attention of other dogs and went straight for people – they were more likely to have treats, after all. You were so beautifully, unapologetically you.

You brought so much joy into our lives and it’s not the same without you here. There isn’t the clacking of your nails as you walk up the stairs. There are no more head-butts to get our attention. There’s no shaking of your ears to wake us up in the morning.

We had the honour of being your family for ten years and two months, but you and I weren’t always close. I moved away pretty shortly after you were adopted and we didn’t connect right away. I think it was because we had a significant similarity in that we found it difficult to trust, afraid that any sort of meaningful connection would just lead to hurt. But in the last year and a bit, while I was without a home, I got to spend a lot more time with you. I had the pleasure of dog-sitting you a few times and I think that’s when we really bonded. We learned to trust and love each other.

I learned some incredible life lessons from you:

🐾 When you didn’t want to walk a certain route, you just stopped and refused to move. That was you, saying no (and you never apologized! 😂).

🐾 When you needed something, you’d get my attention by head-butting me. That was you, asking for what you needed.

🐾 When you saw sunlight stream into the apartment, you went and laid in the sunshine, face upturned. That was you, living in the moment.

🐾 When I petted you and you wanted more, you would roll on your back, legs spread, a clear indication that you wanted a full-body rub. That was you, showing me what you wanted.
