Thank you so much to everyone who came out to see my work last Friday at The House of Rad Gallery! I cannot believe people braved flooding and tornadoes to see it. 😭🫶 I am so excited because this is my first show of the year and my first show in Milwaukee. I’m also so hyped to finally show my prints from the end of my @kalaartinstitute residency! If you didn’t get a chance to see it, it will be up through June 20th and there will be gallery hours on Fridays from 5-8!!! :)

first official milwaukee date night was wheel throwing with @tooth_and_nail_milwaukee !!! so fun, so messy, and so hard but our teacher @_phartworks was the absolute best. i’ve never really worked with clay so it was definitely an adjustment (and some things did go flying off the wheel) but i loved it!!!! results coming soon 🫶

finally getting around to posting my full screenprinted animation from my residency at @kalaartinstitute !!

this piece was the main focus of my time as it took 120 screen printed frames (with three colors each) to put together. i then scanned each frame back into the computer and re composited it. the original video was a little glitchy and choppy, so it isn’t the most smooth but i’m really happy with how it turned out. i think the diffusion dither adds to the old home video aesthetic.

my first big experimental bitmapping print at @kalaartinstitute !!!

out of all five of them it might still be my favorite. i love the textures created by the overlapping lines.

two weeks later and i’m missing @kalaartinstitute so bad!! i had the best time printing there and learning from so many experienced artists. lots of new ideas brewing but also excited to keep going with the series i’ve been working on. thank you @leylajamilrzayeva for the live action photos!! taken in Berkeley, California by @themakingsofoona

my final print at @kalaartinstitute vs the original photo!

this photo is part of a set of photos taken during a lunch in canada with my grandparents. i’ve always really loved the photos of this day and i was so excited to finally print one of them. i think there’s a lot of interesting colors that show up without the black layer and i love how the window turned out.

finally heading back to SoCal after an amazing residency at @kalaartinstitute !!! i got a lot of questions about what my process was or what i was doing at the residency each day so i made a little video to explain my process! definitely meant to post this sooner but i thought it would still be interesting to anyone who was curious! i am so excited to share more work from the past few weeks with yall :)

Watch these layers come together in reverse!
CYM -> CY -> C

I love how every single layer changes the entire vibe of the piece! This was my third experiment with abstracting the bitmapping.
