Viv had been having a bit of trouble with shoulder pain. Our resident sports therapist Nik quickly fixed it with a skillful massage.

"I'd recommend him to anyone is struggling with tension in the body, he's is a very special practitioner"

Nik offers free health-checks every Tuesday at the Monastery.

Christmas shopping news! 📣

On 6th November, the Night Market UK is heading to the Monastery!

The market will be taking over the entire ground floor, with over a hundred stalls throughout the Cloisters and the Great Nave, featuring the very best in local handmade vendors, all handpicked by The TNMUK team.

Expect an assortment of delicious street food vendors at the front of the building (with outdoor and indoor seating), the bar in the Great Nave serving up the very best of the festive bevvies, and the Sanctuary Cafe will be open and ready with your favourite hot drinks (both alcoholic and alco-free!). 🍕🍔🥟🍻🍸☕️

Ace DJ @buthothewarrier is booked and he'll be on the decks all night long! 🎧

This is a one night only event and tickets sell quickly, so we do recommend early booking 👌

At certain times of day, sunlight streaming through the Great Nave's enormous windows creates a 'ladder of light' leading from a historic Franciscan floor mosaic towards the altar.

The mosaic, situated close to the original church entrance, bears the words Deus Meus et Omnia (My God and my all), a phrase closely associated with St Francis of Assisi. It also depicts the traditional Franciscan emblem: the crossed arms of Jesus Christ and St Francis, both bearing stigmata – the marks of the Crucifixion.

In 1961, the mosaic was cleaned to mark the Monastery's centenary, following instructions from Father Martin Crawley. More recently, in 2018, the Monastery Trust commissioned specialist conservators to clean it once again, before protective glass was installed to preserve it for future generations.

And now, at certain moments, the afternoon sunlight finds its way across the Great Nave to illuminate this little piece of Franciscan history 💫

Just 4 weeks now until the doors open to our debut event at @themonasterymcr , we are incredibly excited to share this breathtaking space with you!
