FREE RANGE KIDS ARE BACK! 🌱🙌

We had so much fun with this over the summer, we decided to bring it back for fall. Every Monday + Tuesday, kids eat FREE for lunch and dinner!

Bring the family, grab a spot at the shared tables, enjoy some good food + fresh air, and let the little ones roam the garden, explore, and see where some of the food on their plates actually comes from.

Kids are our future. Community matters. And we love having all of you here. ❤️

A dinner that tastes like the future we’re working toward.

We’re so excited to share that @allthingswaite, headed by @_jmwaite and Chef @davinwaite of @theplotrestaurant and @wrenchandrodent, will be fashioning our meal for this year’s Fall Fundraising Dinner at @coastalrootsfarm.

The Waites are known across San Diego for innovative, sustainable sourcing, from using every scrap in the kitchen to growing produce in regenerative urban gardens. Chef Davin has collaborated with @NOAAfisheries and @Scripps_Ocean, and Jessica serves as president of the @BerryGoodFoodFndn.

It’s a delicious match for a night built around a more equitable, sustainable San Diego.

Here’s a taste of the sample menu:

🍣 Sushi bar: buffet-style selection of local fish nigiri, rolls, and veggie rolls

🎣 Tray pass: tuna prosciutto toast with burrata and balsamic, chayote poisson cru with a crispy rice cracker, and cured salmon with herb-whipped brie and plum cheong

🥬 Course one: bbq squash, quinoa, kale, and pickled onions

🐟 Course two: local fish, pasta, garden pesto, and seasonal vegetables

Vegetables will be sourced as much as possible from Coastal Roots Farm, so final selections will depend on what’s available closer to the event. Fresh from the farm, served right on the farm. It doesn’t get much better than that.

TUESDAYS IN THE GARDEN 🌱🪴

Want to get your hands dirty with us? 😍🤚 Every Tuesday from 3–5pm, we’re hosting volunteer garden hours at the @theplotgardenproject’s Tremont Community Garden, and everyone’s invited.

Come pull some weeds, plant some things, and join us as we give love to the garden that grows so much of what ends up on our plates. No experience needed! Come for a bit or stay the whole time. We’ll have Plot bites for everyone to snack on too!

Crispy Rice Risotto 🔥🌱

Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and all kinds of comforting. One of our longtime dinner favorites, and pretty much everything we’re craving this time of year.

We love the contrast of textures, the depth of flavor, the colors, and the way it all comes together on one plate: crispy rice, creamy risotto, rich and vibrant flamenco sauce, mushroom bacon + zucchini, with fresh herbs from our garden bringing a little brightness to every bite.

Today Dr. Ashanté M. Reese (@dramreese ) at @sdfoodsys reminded me of the work that I do. I bring people together to gather and to nourish each other. It's all rooted in love. I was in tears because I needed to be reminded of who I am and how I am showing up for the people through my radical hospitality.

Radical Hospitality means, you belong here. I have a seat for you at the table. You are family.

I remember when we first started doing these classes, I shed some tears infront of everyone because I couldn't believe I was doing this work. I was impressed by how people show up to gather and learn together . Also because @_jmwaite & @davinwaite believe in me and let me do whatever I want (I won't do anything to crazy, don't worry). So yeah, plot is family. I have so much respect from our Chefs. Thank you @pizzatraplord & @traviinsta for letting me show your passions with our guest. I wouldn't be able to do it without you all.

Our next class will be the art of tofu making with @thika_co, Wednesday October 7th.

🎃 Our 6th Annual Pumpkin Drive returns November 1–3, 2026!

Together with @saleranchsanctuary, we’re collecting leftover Halloween pumpkins to provide food and enrichment for rescued farm animals across Southern California.

Last year, our community donated more than 5,000 pounds of pumpkins! Help us keep even more out of landfills while supporting animal welfare and giving back.

🎃 Pumpkins must be UNCARVED and UNPAINTED.

French Countryside in the Garden 🇫🇷🌱 is coming up October 13, and Chefs Davin + Travis are getting in the mood 😎

The menu is taking shape, and we’re letting the garden, the season + a little imagination lead the way, and here’s what’s floating around so far: cassoulet, chickpea flatbread, something fresh and green, a little confit + a classic tarte Tatin to finish it all off.

Seared Scallops 🔥
— salty, savory, melt-in-your-mouth, and one of our absolute favorites for dinner. Made from daikon radish and served with salty ëgg yolk, black pepper collard greens, capers + toasted walnut.

We love taking something familiar and turning it on its head. A little magic from Chef @davinwaite transforms the humble daikon into something tender, rich and satisfying that gives you everything you want from a scallop, without the seafood. It’s a beautiful reminder of just how versatile plants can be… and with a little imagination, creativity + the right technique, pretty much anything is possible. 🌱 taken in Oceanside, California by @theplotrestaurant
