This morning’s random local pull: 2024’s ‘Revery’ by @theresathor, best-known as a member of the glorious @bicyclefaceband (among other projects)! This is a really nice li’l solo album (or is it an EP? Do words have meanings anymore?) by someone who has been consistently making great music, at least since I first heard Bicycle Face maybe a dozen years ago now. Can it possibly be that long? 🌸 One week away!! 🌸 Join us for a sweet lil house show at @lobarwpg ! Our (BF's) own @theresathor will detach from the trio to kick off the evening with her first performance under her old/new name, ✨️Kilter✨️ - I (Ava) can confirm that Theresa had the name first but then the beer company came along and long story short she stopped using it for a bunch of years so she wouldn't be associated with craft beers but honestly I think it's great marketing. T can correct me in the comments if I'm getting this story wrong. In fact, you can all weigh in about it if you like! The delightful @r.sheaves.music is joining us all the way from Newfoundland! ✨SUNDOGS HISTORY MINUTE✨ The very first SunDogs show was in beautiful Gimli for the 2024 Icelandic Festival, but the dawgs go way back, playing together in various formations and genres since we were pups. Tons of Monteverdi’s music and composers around his time including Caccini, Turini and Salamone Rossi, Leonarda and others. 🦄THE ORIGIN OF BICYCLE FACE🦄 Once upon a time, long ago, Theresa threw a raging house party. All the music students in the land were invited, as long as they were cool enough, and the dwelling rang with puns and merriment. Ava, who was cool enough to be at the party but unable to keep up with pun skill-level required, took to the sidelines and began going through the host's CD collection, as was her way. That's where Theresa (a capable punner but taking a break between rounds) found her, marvelling at the collection, which matched her own nearly identically, including a copy of both of their favourite album, The Unicorns' Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone. Amazed at this unlikely coincidence, the two wondered if they were cousins or something, and, lo and behold, they totally were. (Second cousins once removed.) In fact, they sort of remembered each other from an extended family thing when they were 7. They vowed then and there to combine their impeccable musical tastes into one band, and so Bicycle Face was born. And, on March 28th, they will fulfill a many-years-long dream of transforming into their Unicorns tribute band alter ego, More than Horses. Come to @sidestagewpg for a flashback indie cover show, featuring @gabiocejo as The Cardigans and members of @mulligrubmusic , @strawberrypunchband , and @merin_stagram_ as Rilo Kiley, and put on by @reallovewpg ! 💕🦄💕 by @theresathor
