Meet @this_simonsays , one of our 2026 Tree Ambassadors! Most of us walk past trees every day without thinking about how healthy they are or everything they do for our community. For Simon, the training unpacked all of that.

It also gave him the confidence to talk with his neighbors about why planting thousands of trees across Buffalo matters for everyone.

Part 1 of my amazing week at the North American Bikeshare and Scootershare Association Conference in Cincinnati! My two favorite things about the NABSA conference: making micro-mobility friends all over the place like San Antonio, Omaha, Toronto, Vancouver, Baltimore, San Diego, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and NYC! My second favorite thing: the free access I get on Bikeshare! @cincyredbike is amazing! All mid-size cities need robust and low-cost Bikeshare

My 3rd year biking to Ellicottville for the EA2EVL Fondo! Biking 71 miles through the Southtowns and Southern Tier is one of the best ways to experience Western New York's autumn foliage 🍂🍁!

This is a great fundraiser the supports the ongoing @eriecattaraugusrailtrail

Big thanks to @southbuffalowheelhouse for getting my bike up to snuff for this big incline ride!

Joined my friends for Mountain Biking at Kissing Bridge this morning. Second time mountain biking, and first time ever on a chair lift! Very fun, and very nerve-racking downhill slops! Only flipped over my mountain bike once!

Thank you, Abhram, Claudia, Tom, Alberto and Brendan for pushing my risk-tolerance further! 💕

With the Bills Season Opener game going on this afternoon, it was the perfect time to go door knocking in South Buffalo, asking neighbors to be apart of an ambitious initiative to replant thousands of street trees over the next four years. (Since moving home in 2017, my neighborhood has lost approximately 300 trees.)

I am part of @buffalostreettrees first year cohort of community ambassadors, talking to renters and homeowners about the personal and community benefits of restoring our tree canopy and answering questions about a federally funded push to restore what we've lost. The city's forestry department asked I target South Buffalo's Lockwood Avenue and Trowbridge Street with door canvasing. I knocked on 147 doors, spoke to 39 people and filed tree requests on behalf of three households. That was only Lockwood. I will be canvassing Trowbridge on a different day.

After that, I pedaled around South Buffalo tagging newly planted trees with special labels.

This all sounds small, but I am proud so far this year, we're observing tree requests have multiplied by more than 4 times across the city and by more than 5 times in priority neighborhoods--typically neighborhoods with a higher poverty rate.

Turned 36 today with a volunteer planting event and then a blissful happy hour. Invited friends this morning to join me and @eriecountyparks and @bnwaterkeeper to plant 150 native plants along the shores of Seneca Bluffs Habitat Park! And then in the evening, I invited friends to join me in a cash mob at @buffalobrewingcompany where we played Trivia Jenga until dusk.

Not only did I and my friends win pie 🥧 at this year's Pie Raffle, the staff at Grassroots Gardens remembered that mine and Steph Smith's birthday fall along the same week so they brought us cake 🎂!

Our 4th year biking across the Peace Bridge for a farmer's market and a beach day!

This wouldn't be possible without everyone from @novemberprojectbuffalo coming together to make it work! Great turnout! 36 people! We startled the border patrol agents!

Dabbled into sports 🏈 this summer by joining the LGBT Flag Football league here in Buffalo. Reluctant to tie up most Saturdays this summer, I joined as a BUB--a cheerleader and sub. Played one pre-season game, joined 3 practices and cheered on my team, Big Dogs, on most Saturdays. Undefeated record, and earned the championship 🏆 on Sunday. Excited to join the league next year as a full player!! I encourage more friends to join Buffalo United Flag Football.
