Playing around with the Edits app for the first time 🤙🏼

Local trail with a peak altitude of 8500’ and some fun drifts across the top. Camped overnight halfway at 7620’ with cold temps overnight but quickly melting snow and good traction during the day. by @tiny_the_200

My daughter snapped this first photo.

This drive was our first time seeing wild otters! 4 of them just as playful as you see them in captivity!

…and we were just launching my boat 😉 after which there was no water ingress after this little dip by @tiny_the_200

No actions shots or clips but my daughter and I jammed up Goose lake trail in under an hour and then back out to a quick bite in Cooke City 🤙🏼

282miles, 20.83 gallons = 13.5mpg for the whole trip. Not bad for a 2.5hrs of trail and spirited mountain pass driving.

First time seeing a wolverine in the wild!

In normal AHC height the whole trail but parked in high just for the look 🤐 by @tiny_the_200

Just a short drive to dip our toes in the creek and try to skip some rocks.

This is the second time we’ve gotten to see an American Dipper bird, also known as a Water Ouzel. I think he was trying to mock me and the difficulty I clearly had crossing the creek.

I have a childish desire to get across any creek while trying to stay mostly dry and not drop my phone. As if someone challenged me or a parent just told me not to get wet. For some reason my daughter wouldn’t trust riding on my shoulders either 🤔

And we’ll eventually replace that taillight that we smashed out on McKelvey Lake Trail. by @tiny_the_200

With the switchbacks closed for repairs still, we headed in from the other side of the trail, camped on the plateau, then floated briefly in Long Lake after airing back up.

No crowds, despite the typical busy weekend traffic getting to the trail. Tiny just lumbered along up here. It’s a fun trail primarily known for the tight, steep switchbacks and these gorgeous views. But even without the switchbacks open, the top portion has a brief section of rocks that require your attention.

Did stumble across a survey marker from 1947, and a whole lot of beautiful sky at 10,500 ft. A little smokey, but we expected that.

That brass disk up there is stamped THIEF · 10,544 ft · 1947 — We parked and hiked up hoping to see Deep Lake on the other side but it is still out of view from this hilltop. Consolation prize was finding these two survey markers (THIEF + Ref2) still holding their spots 78 years later 🦾 Come to find out, there should be a third one up there too (Ref1) but we didn’t see it.

Not a bad way to spend 24hrs. Wind even kept the mosquitos away (although it did keep the tent flapping half the night) 🤙🏼 by @tiny_the_200
