If you’ve been to the new Italian restaurant, @lavettasavannah, you should know about another spot that just opened beneath it. @vcocktaillounge, the restaurant’s after-dark “alter ego,” officially opened last weekend in the underground location at 15 W. Broughton Lane.

According to their Instagram account, the lounge is inspired by by the volcanic landscapes of southern Italy, and what you find under the summit.

V’s hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 5 PM to midnight.

@savstopover and @theparkateasternwharf partnered to create The Riverfront Concert Series, and The @intracoastalplayboys are next.

Savannah’s The Intracoastal Playboys will cover country favorites like Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, and others.

Artist, producer, and musical director, @andrewsovine, will open.

There’s plenty beyond the music, too. Food from @520wings, @cousinsmainelobster, @nkddogsav, @piesociety, and @the_cone_ranger, a build-your-own trucker hat station by @messhall.us Drinks will also be available from @minttobemojitobar, @lowcountrytaps, and the bar by @fleetingsavannah at @thompsonsavannahga

@scaddotedu students have a new way to put their work and ideas in print. @scadhoneymag, the university’s first student-led, print-only culture publication, launched in May and is now preparing its second issue.

Created by students, for students, the quarterly magazine covers the creativity, culture, and lifestyle of the SCAD community, featuring student artists, designers, and creatives from Savannah to Lacoste, the university’s campus in the south of France.

Today, October 13, is the submission deadline for Issue 2. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what the SCAD community brings to the next issue.

Plans for a @publix at @easternwharfsavannah took a step forward earlier this year, when the grocery chain filed a building permit application with the city on February 26.

According to the application, the proposed store would span 36,374 square feet on a 2.21-acre site near the development’s East President Street entrance. Plans also include a parking garage, sidewalks, access drives, landscaping, and utilities. Riverworks Way is also slated to be extended and dedicated as a public road.

Eastern Wharf already includes apartments, hotels, and retail space along the Savannah River. A grocery store would add another everyday amenity to the growing downtown area, though the project’s timeline and opening date have not been confirmed in the information available.

Savannah’s historic Cotton Exchange has sold for $8.2 million, and the building is set to become a natural history museum open to the public.

The building was purchased by Cotton Exchange, LLC, on September 28, according to @evsavannah. It was listed for sale in December 2025.

The building is now set for a new use after nearly 150 years in Savannah.

Hurricane Isaias is the first hurricane of the season, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph. The storm is currently over the Gulf and is expected to make landfall as a Category 2 hurricane somewhere between the Mississippi coast and Florida Panhandle late Friday into early Saturday.

For Savannah and Charleston, the main concerns this weekend are heavy rain, localized flooding, gusty winds and rough coastal conditions.

Rain will build in Friday evening and continue through Sunday morning, with 2–4 inches or more possible. Saturday is expected to be the wettest day. Wind gusts of 30–35 mph are also possible.

The overall severe weather threat is low, but tropical systems can produce short-lived, fast-moving tornadoes, particularly on their northeast side. Residents should have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

Coastal areas could also see 5–6 foot waves, dangerous boating and beach conditions, and an increased risk of rip currents.

The storm is still developing, so conditions and the forecast for the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry could change as Isaias moves closer.

Several Broughton Street businesses are still recovering after a fire damaged the building last Thursday.

@broughtonstreetliquor and @levy.jewelers have reopened, with both businesses saying most of their products were sealed or protected from the fire.

Naan on Broughton and Estia Kitchen were also affected.

@milanbroughton suffered the most significant loss, with the business losing its entire space after 16 years on Broughton Street. Its 12 employees have temporarily relocated about half a mile west to Spa Bliss while the business works toward rebuilding.

The fire broke out just after 3 AM and affected the historic building stretching from Levy Jewelers to Broughton Liquor.
