POSTS STORIES REELS
It has been a good year. A better one is coming, In shaa Allah by @trainridestudio
The people who grew up with me knew I grew as a timid, shy and a very reserved kid. That automatically means I didn't talk so much. Didn't even mingle so much with kids around me and for a long while I wasn't the talker but with poetry, I was able to open my mind to the pages of books, to blank sheets and to open my mouth on stages to hundreds and hundreds of people. This is something I have never imagined seeing me doing and that's why when you see me enthusiastically talking or catching vibes, I am sure if it isn't the talk of poetry, it will be an art related discussion. There are so many times that people ask me what I do for fun and I mumble in my mind and the only thing that comes to my mind is writing or reading or just hanging out with my friends. I have tried to get other hobbies over the years and I have not been so successful with them. I have tried Badminton, I have failed woefully at skating and so many other things but one thing I seem to never fail at is writing poetry and telling stories. The ones that I believe matter and the ones that I believe do not matter but they end up reaching people and to them, they matter. A favourite thing about writing is how you write something on your own, in your room and when you post or perform it, a random person talks to you about how they've found it inspiring. This is one of the key things that motivated the start of the Train Ride with AB podcast (which has now metamorphosed into my brand name) The podcast started with my random musings during the pandemic and now I intend to take it to a great level to share the platform with other artists, other poets, writers and storytellers who are very enthusiastic about telling stories and how it matters to us all. So, again. I introduce you to the Train Ride With AB Podcast. Subscribe as it is available on all major streaming platforms. Spotify. Apple Podcasts. Google Podcasts or click on the link on my bio and scroll down to find it In the coming months, I am going to take you through the journey of storytelling, narratives, culture, love, languages and lots more. Hop on, Let's take a Ride! #Podcasts #storyteller #nigeria #kaduna #Kano #storytelling #poet by @trainridestudio
Poetry, Storytelling and Performances require a lot of work. When I started writing poetry it was purely out of passion as many of us will like to call it. But over the span of years, I discovered that passion can only take you as far as your creativity and sapa allow you. I began to maximise more ways to learn and expand on the already existing talent that I have. It might sound like a lot of work that is unattainable and had to get to but it isn't when you set milestones for yourself and take them consistently as the days come by. As Qalb will say, "we all have stories" and that's what we aim to achieve with our art and craft. To tell the stories that matter, in the way that it matters to us but the most important thing is crafting it in the way that it appeals to who ever is reading or listening to us. This is why I have designed this 4 day poetry class. To take you on a professional journey through all it takes to know poetry, to know storytelling and to know what it takes to become better at it and to fully monetise it. Have you joined my class? If you haven't what are you waiting for? Check the next slide for details of how to join in. by @trainridestudio

Worked on this piece titled "Ilimi Gishiri Ne" for Bridgeconnect Intiative Africa. It was a humbling experience as I got to learn a lot and experience a lot. This poem takes us on a journey that explores the trials and tribulations of the girl child, in education, in marriage and in childbirth. The poem seeks to address the issues at hand and to seek for a redress for a better opportunity and chance at education and representation for the girl child. More B.T.S shots from my upcoming project. Video coming soon. "We learn everyday" and if you aren't learning then you aren't growing, and if you aren't growing then you are stuck and once you are stuck, then you know the rest. No matter the heights you might think you've attained and the milestones you think you have reached even in the areas of your expertise, new challenges and new milestones will continue throw themselves at you and you have to figure out the best, most productive and the most excellent ways possible to unlock them. #stories #storytelling #videographer #videography #stories #Nigeria #kaduna #kano #Hausa by @trainridestudio

"Humility" will only take you as far. There are times where you have to own your capacity and blow your trumpets. I grew up as a very timid kid. Even though I knew deep down that I had so much to offer in school, with my friends and at home, I preferred to just stay back and watch others enjoy their shine. For me, I felt low key was the best way to go about it. Moreover, they said "empty barrels make the loudest sound" so I decide to stay silent or at least make minimal sound because I know I am not empty. As I grew older and began to see myself in a better light and understand how much of potentials I had, in terms of listening and talking and giving great attention to storytelling, I embraced poetry and it has so offer opened the world to me. Yes. You heard that right, it has opened the world for me. With poetry, I have stepped into doors that were once closed. In the 10 years of writing poetry, I have seen people laugh, blush, awwn in sweetness, others have shared my sadness, my anger and my laughter. It is the power of expression that grants you that access to the emotional cubicle of someone you are just meeting for the first time. Since I found my voice, I knew I was not going to stop again. I am on a spree to plaster my story and that of others everywhere I go. #poetry #storytelling #poetsofinstagram #kano by @trainridestudio
Contrary to popular belief, the creative process is not an easy one that just comes like the blink of an eye or the snap of a finger. It involves of research, drafting and Redrafting. Sometimes, nothing comes to your head and you just feel like screaming your head out. So when next you say you want to work with a creative person, think of how much mental fatigue is involve in his/her process and pay them diligently. #creators #creativedirector #trainridewithab #poetry by @trainridestudio

“The trouble is, you think you have time.” Jack Kornfield I have never given this particular quote a thought or so much attention because I have always believed I was a puppeteer who knew perfectly how to bend time and control it to suit and go in with whatever I was forging into, this last weekend, that failed, woefully I have gotten abundant blessings with poetry; connections, relationships, wins, prizes, promotions, access and it has been able to pay bills for me. That cannot be taken for granted and that's why the art itself must not be taken for granted. I made a resolve with that last year so I started to become more intentional with my arts.  I had opportunities to collaborate with excellent artists,  to work for and with excellent organisations that have did well to put me on the spot and I have done well to put myself out there by being only the best and giving only the best of what I can do.  When I was told I was to perform at @TEDxFCEZaria. I knew I had so much time to prepare. At least 2 weeks or more to write, edit and memorise a poem. Yes, that was true. But I relented and got comfortable while in the same line was giving so much hint and pressure to @qalbigraphy who had very less number of days to prepare for his tedxbuk performance. He succumbed to all that and made his masterpiece ready and he awed all the people who attended. It was now his turn to put the same pressure upon me, but I was stubborn. Before I knew it, time had gone by and I had only a couple of days to memorise my poem which I failed woefully at. I did my best to put that excellent in my head and all attempts failed. I couldn't! I thought I had time but all of it vanished before my eyes.  At the last minute, I had to choose between performing another poem entirely or begging Qalbsaleem to do a duet with me, which he succumbed to after a long plea from me. We performed and it was amazing! That experience taught me these: Be your best at what you do and you will get people reaching out to wanting your services. They will want to engage what you are putting out there. Find you an accountability partner, who you will be able to checkmate each other with in terms of everything by @trainridestudio
