I recorded this at midnight on my floor.
No band. No producer. No label. No approval.

Just me, a jazz transpose of a Kevin Gates trap anthem, and whatever was honest at 12am.

The giggles stayed in because they were real.
The fear stayed out because it had to.

If you know what it feels like to have a voice
and spend years being too afraid to use it —
this one’s for you….

Change your frequency. Change your life.

Covers in the Dark — Episode 1. 🖤

TRICKYVIBES here.

singer. songwriter. poet. spoken word artist. former Social Worker. Greenville, SC.

i host a podcast called TRICKYVIBES: The Lore — a spoken word audio diary with curated music and intentional sound design. each episode is written as poems and produced like a film. no generic podcast bs- provocatively unapologetic. ADHD friendly. All GAS 🔥

i also wrote three books.

Acquainted — start here. it’s how you get to know me.

You Wrote This Into Me — my journey through sensuality, intimacy, and the body as a site of truth.

MindF**k — sex, spiritual awakening, and what it feels like to be completely undone and rebuilt at the same time. it’s exactly what it sounds like.

all three won the Golden Plume Seal Award of Literary Excellence.

this photo is from the Artistry Gallery Stage — my city, another stage back, being the singer & loud mouth rapper (occasionally), always sharing MY TRUTH.

i make work for the part of you that refuses to disappear. I am revolutionary.

stick around.

STOP SCROLLING, babe! I need you to look at this picture of me like your life depends on it- because in my world it does. Being an independent artist requires continuous transformation.

This is what “feel the fear, venturing into another unknown, and doing the damn thing anyway” looks like once it’s done. I hate you missed TRICKYVIBES: The Lounge Sessions, but I’ll be back. Believe that!

Thank you to @bourbonleafavl for having me. Singing is first love and holding space for growing artists is what sets Bourbon Leaf apart in the downtown Asheville community. Funk bands, spoken word, acoustic vocalists, rap cyphers, the list goes on-all of these gatherings distinguish Bourbon Leaf Cigar Lounge & Speakeasy from the rest.

We will see you soon! Stop by!

Alisha Chelsea Jones is a jazz, soul, and R&B vocalist performing under the name TRICKYVIBES — sultry, atmospheric, and entirely live, with the kind of presence built for slow evenings and low light. She is the literary award-winning author of The Awakening Trilogy, a three-book series honored with the Golden Plume Seal Award for Literary Excellence in 2020, and the creator and host of TRICKYVIBES: The Lore, a podcast styled as a poetic audio diary — spoken word, storytelling, and curated music layered into something you feel more than listen to.

That same artistry carries into every live performance: smoky, unhurried sets made for a room that already knows how to savor.

Turns out there’s more to me than I ever expected.
Turns out strange greets strangers.
Turns out the lights still flicker but it’s about intention, really.

You’ll find out who you are when you run out of choices to make.

Turns out the World has yet to see the magnitude of my Great Work.

I had to change. But this time on my terms.

Cheers to being seen.
Cheers to seeing me.

📸 @themichellerojas on video and editing by yours truly.

Not every room feels like this. I came to capture it and ended up being captured by it too.

What Alisha Chelsea Jones (@trickyvibes) created in that space was something rare. A room where people actually showed up for themselves. Movement. Sound. Spoken word. Breath. Nervous system restoration. The kind of experience that reminds you what it feels like to be fully present in your own body.

This is the work. Not the performance of wellness.

The actual thing.

And the good news is you don’t have to just see it through my lens.

The second @thecenterworkshop is happening Sunday July 19th at 4pm at @thecollectivestudiosmidtown and it is free and donation based, meaning there is no reason not to be in that room.

Follow @thecenterworkshop to register and get all the details. 💛✨🖤
