Get involved!💜

On Friday, October 9th, and Friday, October 23rd from 1 PM-3 PM, we will be outside of Blackburn Center collecting hygiene items for House of Ruth, a women’s shelter in Washington, D.C.

House of Ruth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Washington, D.C., whose purpose is to empower survivors of domestic violence to break the cycle of abuse and live independently, safely, and with dignity.

Forever Grateful For Thee,

The gift of my university began with a deferral. Feelings of not being good enough, not coming from enough money, and not having a story worthy of being told. On May 9th, 2026, I left Howard knowing that she has built me to handle life and all of the acceptances, deferrals, and rejections that are to come.

Both directly and indirectly, she has taught me a lot. She has taught me not to play the game but to control it. When the going got tough, she turned me to my fellow Bison who were walking the same path. But most importantly, she taught me to be my bold, curious, confrontational, and unapologetic self no matter what table I sit at.

Howard, I thank you for the community, network, experiences, and memories you have given me. For guiding me through my matriculation, I thank Ryan Hill, Keena Blackmon, Tia Tyree, Cathy Jerome, Brandale Mills-Cox, Michael Roy, Sheryl Johnson, Robert Lyons, and Edgar Jackson II. You each have played a pivotal role in my personal and professional development.

I know all good things must come to an end however, three years just wasn’t enough time.

Forever Indebted To Thee,

Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. A chapter rooted in history, tradition, and the groundwork of our beloved sorority. Giving me the chance to carry out the vision of our founders right where they stood is still something I cannot believe. Delta, you have been my dream since birth. I am the only daughter, niece, and even granddaughter on one side. Through Delta, I secured one of my first sisterhoods in Delta G.E.M.S. and I’ve secured a lifetime one through Alpha Chapter.

To Aliferous 50, each of you have a special place in my heart. We are the girls who fight to the end to get what is ours and we continue to raise the standard for others to follow. You have shown me that success is not measured by what you gain for yourself but rather what you in turn do for others. You have left an imprint on me that will carry me through the rest of my life. May Ali continue to soar.

To my mommy, thank you for setting the standard of what it means to be a Delta Woman. Being able to carry on your legacy is a task I don’t take lightly. You and 102 Dreams of Crimson and Cream Spring 1998, Alpha Xi Chapter have given me all your love and I couldn’t be more proud to share this sisterhood with you all. My love for you is everlasting.

For those who have come before me, thank you. For those who are just getting started, hold it down and know that I am always in your corner.

I am honored to have Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the joys that accompany her for the rest of my life.
