I'm going to be vulnerable on here for a moment:

It’s strange how quickly life can feel overwhelming. One thing goes wrong, then another, and before you know it your mind starts to tell you everything is falling apart. I’ve had moments recently where the day felt like it was spiraling beyond my control, and in those moments it is easy to feel like the whole journey is off course.

Part of that experience has been learning to live with a mind shaped by ADHD and anxiety. There are days where focus feels distant and simple things take more effort than they seem to for others. For a long time I interpreted that as failure. Upon recent diagnosis, I am realizing it is not a verdict, it is terrain. Within that terrain there is still a choice to show up gently and keep moving.

Music keeps reminding me that growth is never linear. No musician becomes themselves in a straight line. I'm learning that the most meaningful learning comes from showing up when I don't feel ready, walking into the practice room unfocused, and letting myself struggle without deciding that struggle means failure. There is something healing about loving yourself through that process and being grateful for the unfolding itself.

This morning I found grounding in Psalm 118:24
“For this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Not because everything is perfect, but because the day exists as part of the journey. It can be messy and still meaningful. Maybe rejoicing looks like patience. Like showing up anyway. Like trusting that even chaotic moments are shaping you into who you are becoming. Today I am choosing to move gently and remember that no path worth walking is ever linear. If you are in one of those seasons too, I hope you offer yourself grace. You are allowed to be unfinished and still trust the direction ahead.

I’m very excited to announce that for the next 4 years I will be studying with the amazing @jeremywilsontrombone at Vanderbilt University. I will be achieving my bachelor’s degree in trombone performance at @blairschoolvu

I'm very excited to announce that I will be performing my junior trombone recital, "Vox et Coloris", on Tuesday, September 29 at 7:30PM in Turner Hall! The recital is free and open to all who wish to attend. I hope to see you there!
