"By all means, attribute my legitimate feelings of sadness to menses."

-----Piper, Orange Is The New Black (Netflix).

Last month I completed an entire series watch of Orange Is The New Black (OITNB), for the first time. I also read the book, which doesn't compare at all! This TV show is one of my favourite adaptations.
.
What is, or are, your favourite adaptations that far exceeded their original book source? Thanks in advance.
.
📙
📺📺📺📺
OITNB is an exceptional piece of TV, and I highly recommend you watch it, if you haven't. So it's time for a guilty pleasure... season five of Temptation Island 🤣

"The best job a concert pianist can get nowadays is as a trader for Citibank, it pays very well."

-----Gary Stevenson, The Trading Game.

📙
The older I get the more non fiction I read; or maybe I read more non fiction because our right wing, super-rich and/or mostly Russian backed channels spew so much fiction!
.
How about you reader, do you read much non-fiction? My favourite type of non-fiction uses data to inform, like "Superfreakanomics" and 'The Tipping Point.'

I am currently enjoying watching Gen V, the The Boys spin-off show. I'm also watching and liking, among many other shows, my first anime... "One Punch Man". What is your favourite anime?

Hey bookish content consumer I hope you're well and that you have many more great reads ahead of you than behind you. Captured via Bookstagram flat lay are five of my top ten favourite writers and five of their works. These writers have consistently churned out above average books for me. How many of these have you read? And for a bonus no-reward who's your favourite writer of consistently good books? As ever, thanks in advance.

"There is nothing you can do about the past, except keep it there."
-----Michael Connelly, The Brass Verdict.
.
📘
Around two years ago I read my first Michael Connelly and enjoyed it so much that I went on to read 20+ more of his Bosch universe reality. As a writer of bestsellers for many decades I just presumed that he wasn't for me, and was hugely surprised at his deep character studies of his characters in police forces mired in corruption and/or negligence.
.
Which bestseller writers' work impressed you, when you got to reading their work? I am genuinely interested in what other great work I could be missing out on.
.

📺📺📺
ITV show watching: I am up to the final season of another deep character study, one of Ray Donovan and his siblings. Showtimes Ray Donovan is a pretty innovative show, that doesn't paint a good light on Hollywood. Have you watched it? What did you think of it? No final season spoilers please.

Today's photographic offering is a selection of my formerly under control, but now beginning to run amok TBR and current reads.
.
My new reads / TBR comes mostly from two sources - 1. The latest thrift shop selling deeply discounted used books and - 2. Me bulk buying the rest of series that catches my interest.
.
So, fellow reader, what is the main source of your new books and/or TBR? Thanks in advance.

I am obsessed with my current rewatch of BoJack Horseman which is even better on second watch. As a Bojaxk fan, please advise on what other cartoon series you recommend that I watch?

I read the sixteenth instalment of this, the Hamish Macbeth, rural Scottish Highland village policeman series and absolutely had to go out and buy all the other books in the series!
.
Which serials were you immediately committed to having only read one volume? Thanks in advance, as ever.

Still re-watching multiple TV shows like Fleabag, Schitt's Creek and The Misfits, but my fave rewatch at the moment is the superb Hollywood fixer (and family) show, Ray Donovan.

Any recently completed TV shows you recommend? Cheers!

Per picker, per picker, per Penguin...Penguin books are featured in today's posr. Anybody else notice the massive buy-ups, mergers and consolidations that has led to less ten five publishers owning the majority of publishing houses over the last two decades?

"Don't feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy."
-----Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Thorns and Roses.

"But there are no gay towns in America."
-----Edgar D. Jackson, The Secret Cuckoo Cabaret Club.
.
📙
Sarah holds her head up high wherever she goes, but deep down as a trans woman she knows she is just tolerated as opposed to being included. Meanwhile her cop brother is the only police chasing up the possible murder of a non binary youth. Sarah thinks she finds salvation in the Secret Cuckoo Cabaret Club, but she might be very very wrong about that!
.
An interesting read centred on two horrid one unknown and the other one intolerance. An interesting look at a non straight community in a small American town. Thanks to horror writer @edgar.d.jackson for advancing me s copy before the book's release on 8 April (so available, right now 😎).
.
My favourite trans related work is HBO's Euphoria, what is yours? As ever thanks in advance.
.
📘
Still watching The Hills, which included a Lady Gaga cameo as herself, before she was famous! Loving this MTV trip down memory lane. Do you have a favourite cameo in a book, TV show or movie?.
