Want to build a brutally strong squat?

Try throwing the belt out.

A belt can help you lift more weight, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s making your trunk stronger. Squatting beltless forces you to create more of your own abdominal and trunk stiffness and control the load without relying on external support.

Your legs aren’t the only thing that need to get strong. Your ability to brace, stabilize, and transfer force through your torso matters too.

Build the strength first. Then use the belt as a tool when you want to overload the movement.

Don’t let the belt become a crutch.

🔥 WHY I LIKE HALF-KNEELING STARTS

Half-kneeling starts are a great way to develop acceleration without needing a full sprint.

They force you to create a powerful first movement from a disadvantaged position, teaching you to project the body forward and apply force into the ground quickly.

You’re getting a combination of:

• Powerful hip extension
• Aggressive shin projection
• Horizontal force production
• Better first-step mechanics
• High intent without needing a long runway

I also like them because they make it difficult to rely on a big countermovement. You have to create the movement from the ground up.

If you want a better first few steps, half-kneeling starts are a simple tool I’d keep in the toolbox. ⚡

If you want a BIG flat bench, start taking steep incline bench seriously. 🏋️‍♂️

A steep incline puts more demand on the upper pecs, anterior delts, and triceps while still training the pressing pattern.

Build a bigger, stronger pressing musculature and you give yourself more horsepower when you come back to the flat bench.

Don’t only train the exact movement you want to improve.

Build the muscles that drive it.

Steep incline = serious bench assistance.

If you want a BIG bench, don’t neglect your lats. 🏋️‍♂️

Your lats help create a stable platform to press from, control the eccentric, keep the bar path consistent, and transfer force from your upper body into the bench.

A stronger back gives you more than just a bigger back.

It gives you a better base to bench from.

Rows, pulldowns, and chin-ups aren’t just “back work.”

They’re bench assistance.
