๐Ÿค– HUMANOID: FALL FLAT | OCT 18 โ€ข Brooklyn Open Call + Showcase + Anniversary Party Humanoid: Fall Flat takes its name from the viral party game Human: Fall Flat, carrying its spirit of clumsiness, unpredictability, and play into an evening of goofs and mayhem. Artists are invited to use robotic failures, glitches, malfunctions, and breakdowns as raw material to question, poke fun at, and examine the rise of humanoid robots and our emerging relationship with them. Join us at Hex House for a showcase, short artist talks, audience voting and awards, followed by music, drinks, and mingling as we celebrate 4 years of @uaad.art and 3 years of @creativecodingnyc ! ๐ŸŽ‚ There are 3 ways to participate: 1๏ธโƒฃ SHOWCASE A PIECE Submit an existing work or make something new. Robot imitations, found-footage projects, unruly simulations, video, animation, movement, creative coding, sound, and other experiments are all welcome. A look back at (Dis)consent: A Night of Performance and Interactive Installations, presented by @uaad.art and @mesh_art_center on Aug 2 ๐Ÿ’› 3 groups of artists brought together performance, interactive AI, and speculative ecology to examine agency and consent in systems where our choices are increasingly shaped by algorithms, interfaces, and institutions. ๐Ÿชฉ Katherine Helen Fisher @khfdanceโ€™s ๐˜พ๐™ฎ๐™—๐™ค๐™ง๐™œ ๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™ง๐™ง๐™ค๐™ง ๐™„๐™„ explored AI, audience data, and collective authorship. ๐ŸคณMengna Da @yumedaaaโ€™s ๐™Ž๐™Š๐™๐™ ๐™‚๐™๐™ˆ๐™ˆ๐™„๐™€๐™Ž ๐˜ฟ๐™Š๐™‰โ€™๐™ ๐˜พ๐™๐™” turned the audience into operators of her own body, examining data extractivism and digital labor, with live music by Chienn Tai @desigh.llc. ๐Ÿ Shihan Zhang @shihan.designโ€™s ๐™๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ก ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™š๐™š๐™จ ๐™๐™š๐™ฉ๐™ช๐™ง๐™ฃ reimagined pollination as embodied labor in a speculative post-ecological future, with movement performance by @dddyiliny. Ana Roman is a multidisciplinary creative technologist, workshop facilitator, and Sonic Arts teaching artist whose work sits at the intersection of generative arts, sonic cyberfeminism, and algorithmic bias. Their critical practice investigates the complex relationships between gender and technology, with particular focus on Empathetic AI, avatarization, data rights, and the transformative impact of AI on human identity. Ana has presented workshop performances and lectures at leading institutions including MIT Media Lab, NYU Tandon, NYU Clive Davis Institute, NYU ITP, Columbia University, California Polytechnic State University, and Berklee College of Music. As an active electronic music producer and DJ (Sonar Festival, Refraction Festival, DJ Magazine, Mix Mag), Ana continues to advance research in technological democratization and music technology innovation, most recently through the ongoing projects at Bogota Experimental Film Festival (Expanded Code Live), DATLAB NYC (Hosted by Touchdesigner) and Creative Code Art. Mathiฬas Chumino / C03RA (Montevideo, Uruguay) is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice explores territories where the human, the non-human, and the machinic intertwine within an accelerated present shaped by technology. Through a critical, experimental, and poetic approach, his work creates immersive and conceptual spaces that expand forms of perception and question the hierarchies between matter, information, and agency. Nsyme < @nsyme.art > is a Seoul, South Korea-based media artist and creative technologist who uses generative processes and computational systems to craft immersive audiovisual environments that blur the line between technology and natural phenomena. His work spans XR, kinetic installations, and large-scale architectural projections, with notable projects shown at venues across Paris, Taipei, Tokyo, and the National Theater of Korea. ANDALU < @andaluofficial > is a violinist, film composer, and sound designer whose work spans live performance and cinematic storytelling. Her compositions and designs have been featured at the DC Commission on the Arts, Corcoran Gallery, the Smithsonian, and other institutions. Onstage, she moves fluidly between live-looped violin soundscapes and upbeat, modular arrangements. Rob Interface < @robinterface > is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn who primarily focuses on making live electronic music, with styles ranging from techno and house to ambient and experimental. He makes music using hardware synthesizers and drum machines, with most of it being improvised. He currently performs solo and also with ambient prog rock group Dune Machine. Gantt is an artist, composer, and educator based in New York whose practice focuses on sound in virtual spaces, generative systems facilitated by idiosyncratic technology, and digital production presets as sonic readymades.
