SHE'S A WINNER BABY!

We're absolutely blown away to have won the Solas Nua New Voices Award for our recent performances of SUPLEX @dublinfringefest alongside our wonderful Set Designer @izzie.hamilton who took home the Making it Happen Award. Additional to this, we had the privilege of being nominated for the Radical Spirit Award. Madness altogether.

Thank you so much to every single person who was part of the production, it really is not possible without the endless support of our audiences, teams and loved ones xx by @ultansounds

@thequeercabaret at @chelseadrugstore this past month - thank you for giving till it HURT and spending a night with us to raise some cash for queer artists and services that benefit the trans community 🏳️‍⚧️❤️

Funds raised went towards @tenipics and will also go towards our super secret Xmas show so watch this space x

Stáinleigh @ultansounds

Ultan de Stáinleigh is a Dublin based Sound Designer, Technician & Theatremaker predominantly active in the live theatre and events industry. Recent projects include Assistant Sound Designing Claire O’Reilly’s “A Christmas Carol” in the Gate Theatre, Sound Designing and Tech Managing “The Dolldrums” with Jaxbanded Theatre, Ass. Sound Designing Marina Carr’s “The Boy” in the Abbey Theatre, and Sound Designing Theatre Lovett Award Winner “Shredder” at Dublin Fringe Festival
2025. Up until September 2025, they worked full time in the Gate Theatre as the Deputy Technical Manager, facilitating award winning UK & Irish designers to deliver excellent quality work on the Gate stage. Ultan is the Resident Sound Designer & Technical Manager for Jaxbanded Theatre Company.

Ultan has joined The Queer Cabaret this year as its Technical Director - and aren’t we lucky!

Meet Danu, a trans woman who picked a terrible name, as she traverses the sissy, cissy world of wrestling, confronts shadows from her past, and tries to excel in the sport she absolutely loves, despite it not loving her back.

JAXBANDED THEATRE finally explores “The Trans Issue” in sports once and for all, asking the question: do you still care if it’s all fake anyway?

Ultan de Stáinleigh is a Dublin based Sound Designer & Theatremaker with an interest and aptitude in anything irreverent, bizarre and audio related.

Recent theatre credits include: Associate Sound Designing Sonya Kelly’s stage adaptation of “POOR” for it’s sold out run in the Gate Theatre Dublin and international stint in the Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Sound Designing "UNDERCOVERS", a new Undercover Garda musical written with Jaxbanded Theatre, Associate Sound Designing “A Christmas Carol”, directed by Claire O’Reilly in the Gate Theatre, designing "SHREDDER" for Dublin Fringe Festival 2025, and Assistant Sound Designing Marina Carr’s “The Boy” & “The God & His Daughter” in the Abbey Theatre for Dublin Theatre Festival 2025.

Ultan is also 1/4 of Jaxbanded Theatre Company.

CREW ANNOUNCEMENT
Teochroí are delighted to announce our crew for our upcoming curated evening ‘LUGHNASA’.

Úna Ní Nualláin:
Úna is an interdisciplinary theatremaker from Dublin, Ireland and founder of Teochroí Productions.
Úna is undertaking her MFA in theatre directing at the Lir Academy, and holds a Law with History degree from UCD. Selected credits include Assistant- Director on The Misanthrope (The Lir, 2025), and an internship with THISISPOPBABY on WAKE (2024, National Stadium). She has written and directed two original works, CARLINE (2024, Pearse Centre) and Need Help (No Worries if Not) (2025, Smock Alley Theatre).

Olivia Ní Bhreathnach:
Olivia Walsh is a Dublin based actor, producer and theatre maker, currently working in event co-ordination. She holds a BA in Drama & Film Studies from UCD, and explores new work from a practical and analytical mindset.
Recent acting/ producing credits include Need Help (No Worries If Not) (2025, Smock Alley Theatre) and Dead Monks (2025, Scene + Heard).

Ultan de Stáinleigh:
Ultan is a multiskilled sound designer, technician & theatremaker based in Dublin city. Recent credits include his scoring 3 productions in this year’s Scene & Heard Festival of New Work, redesigning “Songs of Theys” for a new run after its sold out stint in Dublin Fringe 2023, As well as managing audio requirements in the 870 seat Assembly Hall in last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As well as this, they currently hold the positions of Deputy Technical Manager in the Gate Theatre, and Res. Sound Designer/Technical Manager for Jaxbanded Theatre Company.

Liam Mac Gabhann:
Liam Schmidt is is an experienced lighting & sound designer, technician, operator and production manager, working freelance in the Dublin theatre industry. Recent credits include designing lighting for three productions in the Scene & Heard Festival of New Work 2025 as well as Arinola Theatre’s ‘Ololufé’ at Dublin Fringe 2024 and sold-out runs for ‘Constellations’ and ‘Shadow of a Gunman’ in Smock Alley Theatre also in 2024 with Entr’acte. by @ultansounds
