She cleared a space on her shelf for the trophy. Then she spent six hours in the medical tent. 🏆 At Western States 2009, ultrarunner Krissy Moehl raced differently than she ever had, and it cost her: two IVs, an ambulance, and a second-place finish she calls the best lesson she ever learned. “That’s not why I do this.” Eight weeks later she won UTMB. Her full conversation with Steve House on Voice of the Mountains is coming soon. 🎧 📅 New episode drops Tuesday. “The hack is that there is no hack.” 🏔️ Fasted training, intermittent fasting, and low-carb, high-fat diets get the attention because they feel concrete. Alyssa Leib, Uphill Athlete’s registered dietitian, explains why the unsexy basics (fueling, sleep, recovery) are what actually build an endurance base that lasts. Save this for the next time a nutrition trend tempts you. 📌 Which “hack” did you believe in before you knew better? 👇 🎧 New episode: Fat Oxidation, Fasted Training, and Low-Carb, High-Fat Diets. 🔗 Link in bio #uphillathlete #sportsnutrition #aerobicbase by @uphill_athlete

“Okay, just relax. We’ve got a long way to go.” 🥾 Alexa Hasman has coached first-time ultra runners for years, and the belief she spends the most time unteaching is that you have to run the whole time. You don’t. In most ultras you’ll be hiking, and the people sprinting up the hills in the first five miles usually pay for it later. 📲 Send this to the friend who’s about to go out too fast. 👇 What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to unlearn as a runner? 🎧 Full episode: Your First Ultra, link in bio #uphillathlete #ultrarunning #trailrunningtips by @uphill_athlete
“It’s getting used to saying no to things so that you can say yes to your consistency and your routine.” 🏃‍♀️ Alexa Hasman, Uphill Athlete coach with 40+ ultras (including seven 200-milers), on what separates athletes who stay consistent from those who don’t. It’s not motivation. It’s being the “weird parent” who goes to bed early, skips the late dinner, and sneaks in squats at practice. You can still have a life, you just have to protect the training that matters. Save this for the next time your plans and your training collide. 📌 What’s the one thing you say no to so you can get your run in? 👇 🎧 New episode: Your First Ultra, link in bio #uphillathlete #ultrarunning #trailrunningtips by @uphill_athlete
