Just stacking up Mondays over here! Another solid one. loved how everything came together tonight, as I just sat back and watched it play out, some stretched, some right in the ring to shadow boxing, others jumped rope, others wrapped hands and caught up! Any of the above a great choice and just loved watching it unfold on peoples own accord..

Then when time to work, WE WORKED!!

- Solid family/group stretch
- followed by a two group warm up

Into stations, which you’re seeing here.

We split the ring into two; one half with me working mitts (second video see @kayonflint3) learning, improving, strong foundation which we’re taking to the next level! Then the other half coach @uppercut_glass giving instant feedback in drill sparring, where I gave each athlete a task to focus on, whether it was spacing, balance, countering, foot placement. Live instant tangible feedback!

From there out of the ring onto the turf for a round of Calisthenics, and following that 5 rounds of open rounds bag work! 😤 😅✊🏻💪🏻

Finishing with of course Coach @uppercut_glass 5 min core work!!

Few stayed after for sparring, some to talk & connect, hang! My kind of Monday, and here for many many more to come!!

What can I say that everyone else hasn’t already said about Mk1Madness weekend. It’s my favorite vw meet of the year, generally the only time I get to spend some time with my favorite vw people (DCIVW). I am a firm believer that the moments you spend with friends are worth more than anything else in life, and every moment is a gift. Tomorrow is not promised to us. It’s also generally my biggest roadtrip for the scirocco every summer. This year did not disappoint. So stoked to see my friends. Stoked to have a white knuckle ride down with mechanical complications and almost strandings. Stoked i made it. Stoked to see everyone else’s amazing builds. My friends are so talented! Loved the laughs i shared, and eternally grateful for the generosity of my friends. Especially @kohlsgermanwife @2l16vpu @vweurotrash @vwweasel_75 @og_mk1madness @pushingluckog @rachelmumietattoos and Josh. Thanks for welcoming me in to the campsite. Pumped I stuck to the diet, I fight in less than a month! Still have 9 lbs to cut for the weight class.
Was jazzed i was able to catch the tail end of the Tomas Hurley Brown Memorial Golf Tournament with my hockey team! Love you guys! Sorry for missing the tournament but at least I got there in time to buy out all the jello shots and be loud and obnoxious!!! JELLO SHOTTTTTTSSSSS!!!

Have to take some time out today to wish this guy, Coach @uppercut_glass a very special 50th!! That’s right 50th Birthday!! We appreciate all you do, from the energy you bring to class, your perspective, hard work, and over all engine to help build and contribute to what we have here at the club today!

From all of us here @delaneysathleticclub we wish you the best birthday, continued good health and prosperity! Keep on punching, keep fighting the good fight, and most importantly, just keep being you showing up as you are!

June was a jammed pack month at @delaneysathleticclub

6 pm Adult Class ended on a high note last night was locked in. Showed up showed out, and here’s some mitt work to prove it!

LOVE getting on the mitts to show off, but more importantly to educate, leading to improved, productive, & safer punches down on the bag!

Absolute great crew and can’t wait for tomorrow evening and July to build, connect, grow, and most importantly, SWEAT!

Ended the month of January with a solid Saturday morning! Talked about Getting USA Passbooks for upcoming competitions followed by a great workout & solid round robin Sparring!

Kyle and I co-taught the first mixed media Glass and Metal class at The Studio this weekend, teaching students new techniques for making Rondels, then following up with custom fabricated stands to display them! Students pushed their limitations in the hotshop while learning about different color application techniques and increasing scale, then changed gears and worked with Kyle in the Metalshop. Students learned how to use various power tools to cut, grind, and prep their metal. Then they learned about Mig welding, heat, wire feed, shield gasses and porosity and practiced laying beads on some scrap before welding the various parts of their rondel stands together and finishing them. Seemed like everyone had a great time and enjoyed the process! by @uppercut_glass

This year i turned 49, and in the first week of August I saw an ad for a Masters Boxing tournament and i made up my mind that I was going to get back in shape, train with intention, and get my Boxing license back. I started running, and working the hardest in the gym that I have for years. I cut all bread, pasta, pizza, potatoes, and rice out of my diet, and got into a serious caloric deficit. I dropped from 213 down to 189 over 3 months, ran a half marathon, and sparred a ton. I have to thank all my friends and coaches that all watched my tapes and gave me advice. First and foremost @delaneysathleticclub for the hundred of hours we spent in the gym, and the time and effort that you spent with me. I also really want to thank @dac02026 @jasonwiddisswampum and @cherryst.boxingprogram and @jmp_seventyseven for cornering for me the weekend of the tournament, and letting me hang with them at the fights. It was a rollercoaster of a ride trying so hard so long to get light, then at the last minute to try to get heavy when my opponent changed. I want to give a shout out to my opponent, the very tough Ben Heller, a great guy that has raised over a half million dollars towards cancer research, and a very hard puncher. And finally my gratitude to Danny @sonnysboxingandfitness (Buzzzyyyy!) for hosting a stellar tournament and fielding all my calls and questions basically from August through October. It was a quality show from start to finish. It was a great return to the ring after a 20 year hiatus. by @uppercut_glass

🔥 The pre-ordered glass heads are underway! A big thank you to @uppercut_glass for making these happen.

Just being able to watch the process was amazing. There’s quite the artistic skill and touch required to work glass.

The Jack-o-lantern 🎃 heads are in the kiln for the night along with the white skulls. More to come later this coming week! 😊 by @uppercut_glass

Ran my first half marathon, and just have to give so much love to my running club friends, The Museum Milers! We have been training since last Spring, and even though we are a loose knit group, just having a group chat to check in on has been great, and the group runs I could attend were even greater! It was so nice to have friends to hang out with and pace along with, and meet back up with at the finish lines! Next year I want to be even faster, even though this half was a new PR for me. (compared to my half times when I ran full marathons) by @uppercut_glass

End of an era. 2006-2025. To know PineNut was to love PineNut. From the beaches of Culebra, PR, to Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, Northern Maine, Southern New Jersey, and Corning, plus many points between, PineNut made many a friend in every circle I travelled. He chose Chihiro and I on that white sand beach that day, and stuck with us ever since. He adopted us. He rolled alongside me as I built my craft, traveling as a journeyman glassblower, working in shops along the eastern seaboard. He was there as we set down roots and built up the glass school, then picked up moving first to western Mass then Corning. He was the silent type, never really barking, though he would squeak at squirrels or especially delicious treats. He rode in cars, trucks, bicycles and motorcycles. Never jumping off, wherever I was, was where he wanted to be. He even hit 120mph one time on my ninja. He was our best man at our wedding, carrying the rings in his collar. He never needed a leash with me, and was so smart, learning so many tricks. He could even track the making of a glass piece better than some assistants, knowing the second we broke pattern and lunch was coming. What a gift he chose to share his arc of life with us, our first child, and then big brother when we had a son. Godspeed across the rainbow bridge PineNut buddy. You were the very best. Rest easy, good boy. by @uppercut_glass

Well the Green Machine opted to stay home with missing parts, but i trekked down to @rootsclassic to see all my favorite vw’s and vw friends….and i wasn’t disappointed! I found some new favorite cars, had some great conversations and lots of laughs around the pool, got some good runs in, basically stuck to the diet for my fight, and took home something special that will never wear out. Next year will be the year I finally drive a vw to the show…. Maybe. Thanks to the @dci_vw crew as always for letting me hang. Love you guys by @uppercut_glass
