Experimenting with different colors…

I was awake for way too long last night (as per usual) and ended up deciding to binge Prof. Slowik’s teaching videos and I’ve found them to be extremely informative and entertaining! They were one of the things that helped me make the progress that I did from yesterday to today. There’s still much to work on but I feel proud.
This piece is one I’ve found to be incredibly special for a very long time, and I find myself relating to it at this time in my life more than ever.
Conductivity is cool 🙂

This is a section of Hubay’s Carmen Fantasie, which was arranged for viola by me!

I am so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to perform my own adaptation of this piece with my school’s orchestra!

To the people of RHS Orchestra:
It has been an absolute pleasure to share the love and joy of music with you guys for the past four years. I’ll forever cherish all the great memories we’ve made, and I hope to stay in touch with a lot of you as the years go by. I’m really going to miss y’all.

✨ Now THIS is how you strum into summer.

🎶 Throwing it back to this powerful performance of Jessie Montgomery’s “Strum” by five standout SPA musicians:

Carlie Tate – Grand Blanc Township, MI (16)
Clara Thomas – Lighthouse Point, FL (16)
Osiel Cárdenas – Denton, TX (16)
Alejandro Quintero Cashore – East Greenwich, RI (16)
Ethan Abrahams-Nhliziyo – Houston, TX (14)

This is what the future of chamber music sounds like.

I feel like I play this movement differently every time I pick up the viola….
•
I decided I’d share this recording with y’all because I sent it in for pre screenings and feel proud of some of the things I’ve done with this movement! As always, I have a lot more to improve but I feel I’ve discovered a lot more in the piece since the last time I’ve had to record it 🙂

(Yes, I recorded most of my unaccompanied pre-screening takes in my living room)

I’m excited to say that I’ll be performing selections from Hummel’s Fantasie with my school’s orchestra this Thursday! There’s things I need to fix but overall I’m feeling good about the first movement. 🙃#

•
(P.S. Dear Hummel, I sincerely apologize for miscounting that bar, I don’t know why that happened in this recording in particular 😂)

I recorded this in February for some summer festival auditions, which have been successful! It’s still a work in progress, but I felt pretty good about this recording!

I am tremendously humbled, honored, and excited to announce my acceptance into the @nyo.usa program!!! This wouldn’t have been possible without the immense support from my peers, music educators, and my family, so for that I am eternally grateful. by @v1olist

These are some excerpts I recorded for an audition last week! Although I only had around two weeks to learn them I still feel pretty good about how they turned out. Minor issues here and there but that’s ok.

➪ What do you love about chamber music: I love sharing and discussing different musical ideas with the musicians I’m collaborating with. The fact that the players themselves get to decide what to do with the music as opposed to a conductor’s baton is something that I find fascinating. This is because most of my experience in ensemble playing is orchestral. by @v1olist

Yet another full run of the Reger! This run was not perfect but I still did some things well. I’m performing this again tomorrow for UIL State solo and ensemble! (This might not even the last time I perform this piece as I might again in a week)
