Strategic filler placement. Intentional contouring. 💉

Using Juvéderm Volux, we strategically treated the antegonial region to camouflage the depression associated with the antegonial notch, creating a smoother, more continuous mandibular contour—or, for lack of better words, a “SNATCHED” jawline! 😆

ARE CANNULAS REALLY SAFE? 🩸💉

Cannulas are often considered safer than needles because they may reduce tissue trauma and lower the risk of vascular occlusion. One 2021 study found that cannulas were associated with a 77.1% lower risk compared with needles.

But safer does not mean risk-free.

Yesterday, while treating the temples, my cannula advanced smoothly with no unusual resistance. When I aspirated, however, I saw a significant flash of blood in the syringe. I stopped immediately and applied pressure talking my patient through it. This was however an oh sh*t thank god for all my training moment.

It was a good reminder that even when everything feels normal, you still have to respect the anatomy and remain cautious.

So, are cannulas safe?

Yes, cannulas can be a safer option…but just like anything in medicine, they are not 100% risk-free. Technique, anatomy, experience, and knowing when not to inject all matter.

Patient safety always comes first. 🤍

A lot of things happening here → all with tox.

- Around the eyes, we’re using tox to soften crow’s feet and the movement that creates those lines.
- Upper face, we’re calming repetitive muscle movement that keeps folding the skin.
- Chin, tox helps relax the muscle responsible for that dimpled, textured appearance.
- And on the neck, we’re targeting stronger platysmal bands and some of the downward pull they can create.

Same product, completely different job depending on where we place it.
