מי מספר להם שמהרגע שמאבדים מתחילים ללכת בספירלה שנעה מלמטה למעלה, וברגע שמגיעים לפסגה: מתחילים ללכת בסללום כזה שכל כיוון בו לא נמדד באמות מידה רגילה, לא בסנטימטרים, לא בדקות, לא בשניות. האבל והאובדן שוברים את הציר הישר, ואיתו מפרקים את הקו של הזמן. לפעמים החיים, הזהות, האני - מתפרקים לשניים, ללפני ואחרי, ולפעמים לחתיכות שאי אפשר להתחיל לספור. אז מי מספר להם? מי מספר להם שלאבד אדם אחד קרוב זו לא פעולה שנגמרת בהלוויה, בשבעה, או באזכרה?

Safe there, among the anemones | Black pen on paper.

Every winter, fields of red anemones bloom across the south of my country. In recent years, these flowers have also come to carry a powerful association with loss and resilience, especially after October 7.

Tomorrow, three years.

I can’t believe this day happened in reality. I can’t believe it divided my life like this into unequal pieces, I can’t believe the butterfly effect it brought with it, I can’t believe there were hundreds of Israeli hostages (Jews, Arabs, Bedouins, elderly people, children and a baby), I can’t believe there are places where saying this will be met with boos, blame or indifference. The worst nightmare at daylight. by @veredgoldman

“Grief jump” isn’t an existing clinical or psychological term, but rather a pair of words I found to describe what I felt here. Grief is circular, a spiral process - one that doesn’t begin and end at a single point (and, surprisingly, not with death itself either).

Another story from the blue sketchbook, which over the course of three years has transformed from a war journal into a journal of documentation, and from there into a travel journal.
