Hi, I’m Joshua Ward, and I’m proud to be a personal trainer at Uplifted Gym.

I was born and raised in San Jose, California, and later moved to Idaho for a slower pace of life and more time outdoors. When I’m not in the gym, you’ll usually find me on the golf course or out on my mountain bike.

I’m an educated, enthusiastic trainer who believes great coaching starts with listening. I adapt training to fit your lifestyle, needs, and day-to-day demands. My goal is to add value to your life by making everyday tasks easier through strength, conditioning, and improved movement.

I’ve played collegiate sports, dealt with injuries, struggled with weight, and lived through unhealthy habits. I’ve also lost 100 lbs, improved my mobility, built real strength, and completely changed my life through consistent, sustainable behaviors.

If you’re ready to make a positive, long-term change and put in the work, I’d love to help you get there. by @wardfunctionalfitness

My name is Joshua Ward and I’ve been a personal trainer for 3 years, and I love my job..

It has been the most challenging and rewarding thing I’ve ever done. The ability to beneficially impact someone’s life gives me so much pride and I strive to learn and improve to give my clients a personalized, life changing experience.

I have had a passion to improve my own abilities when I began playing junior college football. I learned to be a great left tackle however injury kept me sidelined. Ultimately I wasn’t strong enough to play my sport at the level I wanted to, I understand that now.

This sent me on a downward path, where I learned to be great at “having a great time,” and while I learned about the human body, and its functions when getting my degree in Exercise Physiology, I realized how I’d been destroying my own.

My fitness journey began in 2019, and was immediately affected by the you know what.. regardless, I set out a clear goal for myself, lose 100lbs by graduation in 2022.

With gyms being closed I took advantage of my local park system, I hiked as much as possible and reignited a childhood flame, mountain biking. This paired with some bodyweight exercise and dietary changes, I was on the right track, quickly. The pandemic taught me to focus on what I can control and that I may need to be creative with how I reach my goals.

As gyms opened back up again I was eager to test different training methods and I programmed them accordingly. I’ve made improvements in strength, hypertrophy, mobility, power, balance, endurance and there’s still so much more.. fitness is a never ending science experiment, another never ending black hole of information to sift through.. however, most results can be found with a few adjustments, hard work, and consistency.

Surround yourself with people who love you, support you, and want to see you succeed. Strive to reach your goals. Learn about yourself as you change and adapt to new things. Put in the work and get paid.. 💰

I am happy to work with likeminded individuals @uplifted_gym, @train_with_trev and I’m thankful for every opportunity I receive in my field and I am excited for what the future holds. taken in Meridian, Idaho by @wardfunctionalfitness

Quarterly instagram update 😅

It’s an amazing feeling to get up every morning and do what I love. Im filled with pride as I help people get stronger, feel better, and ultimately live the lives they want to live.

Whether the goal is to be able to chase grandkids around, hit a golf ball more efficiently, complete a challenging hike, or simply feel better in your own skin. Applying simple (not easy) principles and staying consistent will change your life for the better.

Showing up is the hardest part, even for me (and I live at the gym). If you need help, accountability, or just an environment that encourages you to push towards your goals @uplifted_gym is the place to do it.

The last 2 videos are an 8 year difference. One of my life goals is to make my past self proud. Killing it so far. taken in Uplifted Gym by @wardfunctionalfitness

Another day in paradise! 🌴🌅

Nothing like a sunset after a tough workout to help you reflect on where you’ve come from, where you are, and where you’re going. Self reflection is (imo) one of the most important parts of a fitness journey. It will help you stick to your goals and more significantly help you be proud of the progress you’ve achieved.

Beyond blessed to be apart of @uplifted_gym, the perfect place to make progress on your fitness journey, no matter what stage you’re in. And a special shoutout to my wife for being there for me at every stage of this journey. ❤️💙

Anterior chain with some functional conditioning to wrap up! 💪🏻💪🏻
