Website WasatchSewingCollective.org This is our 3rd year putting on sewing and underwear making workshops —and our first year as Wasatch Sewing Collective! We want to introduce the collective and answer some of our most frequently asked questions. What other questions do you have for us? Our Info & Interest form (linked in bio) has even more details, filling it out signs you up for email updates, which is the best way to get workshops announcements. We’re also aiming to launch a website this week, and open applications for the first workshop —Boxer Brief Making asap! Please note, even if you’re not the most interested in making underwear, as long as you are a queer or trans person wanting to learn to sew, these workshops are still for you! A drop in session to work on any personal project, in the company of other LGBTQIA+, with guidance from experienced Wasatch Sewing Collective staff and volunteers. Sunday October 18th, 12 - 4pm ​Indie Square Coworking, Murray, Utah Quick Details ∙ Self guided project time ∙ Any/all fiber, textile, or sewing projects welcome ∙ Inclusive and supportive queer environment ∙ Drop in anytime ∙ Sewing machines, supplies, and knit fabric provided ∙ Snacks provided ∙ Typically no more than 10-15 attendees About You're welcome to bring any fiber arts project including (but not limited to) sewing machine projects, hand sewing, crocheting, embroidery, etc. Wasatch Sewing Collective staff will be available to provide any assistance or feedback you may need on sewing projects. Brief (AKA Panty) Making Workshop Tuesday November 3rd, 5pm - 8pm Saturday November 7th, 11am - 6pm Indie Square Coworking, Murray, Utah Beginner participants must be able to attend both sessions. DETAILS Learn to sew! Learn to make briefs --aka panties! Like a pro, from the pros! In an inclusive, encouraging, environment alongside other queer and trans people. This intensive 8 hour workshop is structured to accommodate LGBTQIA+ of all sewing levels. It includes conventional women's underwear, versions with more front/crotch space, and compression* (aka tucking) styles. This is crash course --in a fun way! If this is your first time sewing, it will be challenging sure, but 100% doable. We can basically guarantee you'll leave with a pair of self made underwear! We take lots of breaks, all meals and snacks are provided, plus our instructors are really great. If you mostly just want to learn to sew --not necessarily super interested in underwear making, this workshop is still for you. The skills you'll learn are universal. A special note for low income Black & Indigenous people. We welcome you to take the workshop for free and we can offer reimbursement up to $30 for a Lyft, Uber or taxi if you need it, and/or help coordinate rideshares. *Compression undies are worn by some transgender women, femme, nonbinary or drag performers who want a flat front look in their underwear. taken in Indie Square Nonprofits by @wasatchsewingcollective
