Struggling to tell your brand story? You’re not alone — but there is a formula that works.👇 Character → Conflict → Resolution → Customer Benefit That’s the 4-step storytelling framework used by the best brands to connect deeply and convert consistently. When you shape your story around your audience’s journey, you stop sounding salesy and start sounding human. 💬 More on this from @wearestudeo on the Writeful Blog (link in bio 🔗) #brandstory #b2bstorytelling #storytellingmarketing #marketingtips #storytellingforbusiness #contentmarketingstrategy #contentmarketing #brandstrategist #brandidentitydevelopment by @wearestudeo
Some brands are better at overall brand building than others. 🤷🏻‍♂️ And this is true even for well-known, established, loved brands. 🤯 As you know, brands influence our purchasing decisions. → And certain elements play into us recognising (and buying from) a brand. → Things that go beyond logos and colours. Linking one brand to a core offering in our minds. → And encouraging us to think of a company when making a purchase in a specific category. Last week we played a game with 5 random brands, to see just how much ‘stardom’ each of these brands have. #brandstrategy #distinctivebrandassets #branddifferentiation And here are the results. by @wearestudeo
Quiz: How many of these brands can you guess? 💫 And: Why brand recognition is about more than logos and colours. 💁🏻‍♂️ We know how colours and logos play into us recognising a brand. But what about other brand assets? Linking one brand to a core offering in our minds. Let’s explore this together. #brandstrategy #brandsalience #brandawareness by @wearestudeo
Despite what some branders claim, one meaningful idea can inform everything. 🤯 From naming, to positioning, to messaging, to visual identity, and even a mascot. 🥳 Creating a distinctive, memorable brand identity doesn’t need to be rocket science. And yet, it does take a certain mastery, creativity, and a small dose of good timing and luck. Otherwise we wouldn’t be seeing so many poorly informed rebrands every other week. Brand ingredients (brand values, purpose, positioning, etc) are the letters of the alphabet, or food ingredients. The big idea is like a creative outline for a new story, or a recipe for a novel dish. Finally, the manifestation of a brand is like crafting an unexpected storyline, or ultimately birthing that new dish. Let’s explore this together. #brandmetaphors #brandstrategy #brandidentitydesign by @wearestudeo
Most advice out there makes branding sound like an on/off switch. 🤷🏻‍♂️ ‘Your logo is not your brand. If you have a logo doesn’t mean you have a brand.’ ‘If you aren’t shaping the perceptions about your brand, customers will do it for you.’ ‘Unless you have a brand that attracts, potential customers will not come to buy.’ In reality, branding is more like a spectrum. Or how my friend Stef Hamerlinck puts it, there are levels of brand engagement*. Here’s the thing – most brands don’t go from an unknown commodity to being top-of-mind overnight. Let’s explore this together. And stick around till the end for an interactive game to play along to! 🎮 *It’s well worth checking out his full article about it (i’ll leave a link in the comments). #brandstrategyworkshop #brandbuilding #brandingadvice by @wearestudeo
Branding ‘evidence’ stipulates that meaningless logos are more effective. 🤷🏻‍♂️ After all, what does Nike’s swoosh or Apple’s erm.. apple really mean, right? 🙄 Yes, it’s true that there are lots of ‘meaningless’ logos that strong brands sport, and it works for them. But arbitrary shapes and random animal logos sans-meaning are just one of the many routes available to designers to create something distinctive. And arguably, the easiest route. Because it basically gives designers permission to design something random without having to rationalise or justify their decisions. Something I know many designers HATE doing (because they secretly see themselves as artists). Is that you? But here’s the secret. Savvy designers know how to bake-in meaning, without sacrificing distinctiveness. Let’s explore this. P.S. And for those eagle eye nit-picking keyboard warriors out here – yes, I know that my cover is a bit misleading or ‘clickbait-y’, as technically the logo hasn’t changed, apart from the colours. And it might not also be called a ‘rebrand’ as that would typically involve a repositioning. But I needed to get your attention somehow, to get to my main point about loading up a logo with meaning. Even if that usually happens through the rest of the visual brand identity with the logo being a contributing factor in serving up that overarching meaning. #rebranding #brandidentity #visualidentity by @wearestudeo
Contrary to the popular phrase, culture doesn’t eat strategy for breakfast. 🤫 But you sure don’t want to starve it either. 😆 Because your team culture has a direct correlation to the success of your business. And it all starts with strong brand values, which: → influence team culture, → and as a result, brand’s success. Company with poor team culture is like multiple lead actors mistakenly showing up to the same movie. Each with their own motivations. Ideas on what the movie should be about. How it should be shot. First, you need a strategy. Strategy is the script. And the creative mastery of the actors, driven by that script, is the culture. ___ I’m Ilya Lobanov 🦄, want to learn more? 1 - Click my name + follow + 🔔 to be notified when I post. 2 - DM me to chat about building your brand, cooking, and unicorns. 3 - Book a call via my profile to put a face on the digital me. #brandculture #brandstrategy #teamculture by @wearestudeo
I haven’t seen your new visual rebrand yet...🙈 But I’m almost certain you’ve committed one or more of these sins. 🙄 Savvy brand builders know how to create a compelling identity ↳ that converts would-be customers into raving fans. Executed consistently across all facets of how a brand comes across. It’s a beautiful thing. On the flip side, commit any one of these branding sins, ↳ and all the potential will fizzle out faster than a shaken up soda. #brandstrategy #brandingdesign #brandingdesigner by @wearestudeo
How do you avoid cliches in building your brand? 🤔 We’re bombarded with messaging all the time that most of it is just noise. 💥 If you want to grab someone’s attention and take notice of your brand, sticking to cliches won’t cut it. Let’s explore this together. 💌 DM me the word CLICHE along with the link to your website to get a free sense check for your brand. by @wearestudeo
There’s nothing more forgettable than a beige looking brand. 💩 No point of view. No personality. That’s a high risk. 🙄 Or, on the flip side, a brand identity that’s trying to lean into latest design trends. In both cases, a brand like this will fail to captivate and win over any potential customers. But here’s the thing: the responsibility on creating a brand that generates that excitement lies both with the clients and the brand builders (designers, strategists). Let’s unpack this together. #branddesigners #brandstrategist #brandidentity by @wearestudeo
A client asked me recently if I thought I was a bit weird. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Well, unique was the word she used.😅 Unique because she’d rarely worked with other designers who possess this one specific skill. The skill I’d work on first if I was starting again as a brand builder. ☝🏼 Usually overlooked by designers and other branding professionals. Adjusting this one trait will determine what kind of clients you’ll attract and work with. → Clients that need a cookie-cutter solution, like buying milk from the grocer. → Clients that value your opinion, and want to work with you long-term. This will work regardless whether you position yourself as a brand identity designer, or want to become a brand strategist. Let’s explore. by @wearestudeo
Blood makes noise. 🫣 Now that’s a powerful, memorable image. 🤓 Use this tool in branding to make customers instantly ‘get’ what you’re about. Helping you communicate your brand purpose, your values, your mission, and/or the value you bring to your customers. And helping them remember your product/service at an opportune moment and compel them to take action. Let’s explore. by @wearestudeo
