Dunbar Golf Club has to be one of the most spectacular stretches of coastal golf in East Lothian.
Classic Scottish links, incredible views across the Firth of Forth and a course that deserves to be on every golfer’s bucket list.

The 18th on Old Petty. 🏌️‍♂️

“Old Petty, an 18-hole Tom Doak design, is an authentic celebration of Inverness’s rich history.

Doak’s routing threads along a tidal estuary, bringing golfers even closer to the 400-year-old castle, and plays alongside Old Petty Church, which was built in 1839.

From the outset, golfers will notice its unique design: the 1st and 18th holes cross over each other. Rare in modern golf, this balances playability with strategic intrigue.”

Dumbarnie is blessed to have several holes that could be the signature.. and this is certainly one of them!

A risk & reward hole that gives golfers the chance to get close to the green if they take on the tiger line and of course Ben was going to do just that!

Fortunately he hit his only good drive of the day and opted for Texas wedge onto the green. 2 putts later and he walks away with a 🐦 by @wheregolfbegan

The course was immaculate and I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen so many greenkeepers tending to the course, and it pays off!

I’m a sucker for coastal views from a golf course, and Nairn offers some of the best I’ve experienced! I found myself staring out across the water instead of actually playing golf.

We, unfortunately, didn’t get to experience the full bothy halfway through our round as we teed offer super early and it was closed.

🏌️‍♂️ When you tee off for the first hole at Tain you’ll be under the watchful eye of a striking statue of “Old Tom Morris” (1821-1908), outstanding champion golfer, maker of golf clubs and balls, St Andrews greenkeeper and celebrated designer of numerous courses across the UK.

Old Tom watches over the Tain course because it was he who originally laid it out, in 1889, at the invitation of a group of local golfers who had been granted a piece of land from a local land owner.

Tain is one of the very few courses left where golfers can confidently play Tom Morris holes that survive either wholly or in part. Going out Tom’s magic touch lingers on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 9th, and coming in on the 10th, 14th and 15th. taken in Tain Golf Club by @wheregolfbegan
