There are days when I can’t wait to run, and days when getting out of bed feels like the hardest part. Days when I feel strong and days when I doubt myself completely.

I’m learning that I don’t need to feel motivated, confident or even particularly good to show up for myself.

Some runs are about getting faster. Some are about getting stronger. And some are simply about getting out the door.

At the end of the day they all count 🩷

Whatever kind of day you’re having, @wippetapparel has your back.

And we’re back to normal programming!!! 🥳

Seriously though, a huge thanks to everyone who reached out over the past few weeks. Your support meant the world, both whilst I was in hospital and while on ‘limited activity’ instructions - Thank you all so much for your thoughts, well wishes and messages of support. Forever grateful!

Thanks also to Aussie brands @wippetapparel and @kryorecovery for the best kind of get-well gifts: new running kit and recovery sleeves. They made my day!

Hi, I’m The Outback Athlete!
I’m a national level middle distance and steeplechase athlete. I live and train near a tiny town over a two days drive from my nearest capital city. In fact, I’m closer to the NT than my capital!
My locality has no athletics club, track or coach.
I created The Outback Athlete to show what pursuing high-level sport from the bush actually looks like — the distances, the limitations, the ridiculous moments and the opportunities worth chasing regardless...
This is my experience being a track athlete who lives in the Outback…
