@fondationmaeght by Josep Lluís Sert. Divergent from the Swiss master le corbusier. Sert’s building embodies a sense of Spanish warmth.

Labyrinth by miró joan at @fondationmaeght. The slight shift in wall elevation combined with a whimsical plan is enough to transform his painted lines into an architectural experience, where movement felt alive.

Finally visited one of corbusier’s masterpiece, unite d’habitation. We went in the midst of France’s record high heatwave. Not sure if you can feel it in the photos, but the blazing hot air is certainly felt among the presence of this humongous concrete structure. Didn’t get a chance to visit the units but common floors gave a peak to all the unique details corbusier uses to experiment on his proportions principles.

There’s a lot to unpack here that leads to the success of @matcha_116 It started off with this vision of creating an intimate space, a dark space where the boundaries disappears. Since the tea house is taking over a small retail space, we thought about ways to create an illusion of expansion.

We will share more about the countertop design later. Here are some snippets of the renovation process.

Some say my design looks like a monastery. Maybe I don’t mind living a monastery life. It’s calming yet restraining. This is Saint Paul de Mausole Monastery where Van Gogh voluntarily admitted himself.

Can’t imagine how amazing the small details actually made the simple gable and hip roof look so novel. The scale of the gable roof Vitra storage/ museum looks out of scale but vernacularly familiar. The pinch of the hip roof standing seam tip for museum unterlinden in colmar makes the metal roof feel soft.
