Recap from the unveiling of the national Leadership for Equity, Advocacy and Development (LEAD) Fellowship on Gender Transformative Leadership and Inclusion in Tertiary Institutions, a partnership between the Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, and @gendermobile @speakerabbas by @yesideolasimbo

I am proud to have led alongside with @joy_akut the coordination of the successful unveiling of the national Leadership for Equity, Advocacy and Development (LEAD) Fellowship on Gender Transformative Leadership and Inclusion in Tertiary Institutions, a partnership between the Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives, and @gendermobile

As Special Adviser on Gender to the Speaker, I remain deeply committed to translating our institutional priorities on gender equality, women and youth inclusion into meaningful programmes that equip the next generation to lead change.

The LEAD Fellowship is an 18-month virtual leadership and capacity-development programme designed to equip students in tertiary institutions with the knowledge and practical tools to advance gender-transformative leadership, inclusion and safer educational environments. Through learning, advocacy and engagement, participants will be empowered to challenge harmful norms, promote accountability and contribute to campuses where dignity, safety, opportunity and leadership are accessible to all.

Since the inauguration of the 10th House of Representatives under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, GCON, we have remained deliberate about advancing women and youth inclusion and strengthening institutional responses to gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment. The LEAD Fellowship builds on this commitment and reinforces our belief that lasting reform requires not only legislation, but education, advocacy, behavioural change and empowered young people.

I deeply appreciate @gendermobile for another meaningful partnership and for sharing our commitment to creating lasting institutional change. To the students who will be selected, let this be more than another certificate on your résumé. Learn. Build meaningful networks. Develop solutions. Challenge what must change, and become the leaders our institutions and country need.

Still on the Gender session at the NASS OPEN WEEK 2026 Day 2; The Stakeholders dialogue on the Electoral College Model for the Special Seats Bill for Women and the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. by @yesideolasimbo

Three years. Countless conversations. Long nights. Tough decisions but Meaningful progress. Standing on that stage meant so much to me.

My colleagues @effectzoluwapo @joy_akut and I had the honour of presenting the Gender Report Card of the 10th House of Representatives at the National Assembly Open Week Gender session

It was more than a presentation. It was a reflection of the work, the reforms, the partnerships and the people who have continued to push for a more inclusive Parliament. I am Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this journey.

Thank you @speakerabbas @officialbenkalu @kafilatogbara and a big thank you to our cheif of staff @jakedee for your support and contribution.

Yesterday 15th July 2026, we successfully hosted the National Dialogue on the Electoral College Model for the Special Seats Bill for Women and Persons with Disabilities, in partnership with @placng as part of the National Assembly Open Week.
After weeks of planning, it was incredibly fulfilling to host over 500 participants walk into the House of Representatives to engage directly with Parliament.

While the Special Seats Bill was at the heart of our conversations, yesterday was also an opportunity to reflect on three years of gender-inclusive reforms under the 10th House of Representatives. For the very first time, we publicly presented the Gender Report Card, celebrating milestones such as the Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Educational Institutions Prohibition Act, the Bridge Her Gap Initiative, our advocacy on Women, Peace and Security, and many other legislative and institutional achievements that continue to advance inclusion.

A special thank you to @inecnigeria for setting up a voter registration desk at the venue. It was inspiring to see people engaging in dialogue and taking practical steps to participate in our democracy at the same time.
To our partners, @placng and @gendermobile thank you for your support to the Office of the Speaker and the National Assembly. Your commitment continues to demonstrate how meaningful partnerships can strengthen democratic institutions.

Most importantly, thank you to my boss, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, GCON, @speakerabbas for giving me the opportunity to serve. Coordinating these initiatives has been one of the greatest honours of my life, and none of it would have been possible without your trust, leadership and unwavering support. A heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, my amazing colleagues on the planning team, and every member of the support staff. Thank you for your dedication, teamwork and sacrifice in making this programme a success. May God bless you all. 🙏🏾

To Her Excellency, Hajia Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, Wife of the Speaker, thank you for your immense support and constant encouragement. We are truly grateful.
The work continues, but I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. by @yesideolasimbo

Two days to go 💃💃💃💃💃💃

For the past three years, we’ve worked to move the conversation on women’s political inclusion from “one day” to “what’s next?”

Now we’re bringing together legislators, development partners, civil society, women leaders and citizens for one conversation that could shape the future of representation in Nigeria.

The future doesn’t create a seat for itself.
People do.

See you in 2 days.
