Some documentation of @double.minutes last month
They invited @niels_poiz and myself to explore the medium of the artist talk. I think we followed our intricate gut feelings and went for the performative and well meant drama which we both love. It was really nice. Thank you for inviting us @katrien.vandemeerssche @siebert.mispelon by @yliamsk7

3 historical examples to have ready when discussing with anyone who says "but violence is never the solution"

People will sit comfortably home, they will see the news and they will be shocked by the violence.

They blame the youth, they will blame the immigrants, they will blame the woke, the muslims, they will blame Brussels (lol)…
Also people on "our side" will condone violence to the police or to public property. But...

They might need to be reminded about recent history that their own ancestors have fought the police to get where they are!!!

So I decided to have examples ready and looked into 3 important historical movements that use violent protest that influenced and changed laws in Belgium, France and the UK's fairly recent history.
That way the discussion can be around historical facts instead of media induced brainrot.   I chose to use movements that were lead by white poeple; because I want to show that white, middle class, working class, and upper class people also have been violent to the police.

1/ The Suffragettes of the UK* have set fire to buildings, churches, broke shop windows, private and public property to get women to have the right to vote.
(not to confuse with the US suffragette movement that was extremely racist. The UK suffragette have a different history)

2/ The strike of 1886 is Belgium's first major worker revolt.
A parliamentary Labour Commission (Enquête du Travail) was created in the aftermath of the general strike, which led to the first labour legislation in Belgian history. This marked the first time a workers’ revolt gained concessions from the national government.

3/ The student movement in France in 1968 led to increased state investment in education and social policies. The strikes forced major concessions in labor rights, including wage increases, better working conditions, and expanded social protections.

this is about a solo hike to the cave temple right outside of Taipei I did last year , and where spirits sent me a warning!!

I have been to this temple one day, with @gaelledumortier . We were lucky because then we were in the full dark, arriving at the temple. Apparently you should never visit sea side and mountain temples after dark.
But because we were 2 people, the spirits are more relaxed and let you do yoU.

But this time I went alone.
I told my self I will leave back down before it gets dark. Especially since I went in the week, and there were almost no visitors other than me.

but when I was completely absorbed by recording the waterfall i didn't see time pass by and it was dark before I knew...

I was looking to the city of Taipei afar, when a visceral and deeply penetrating extreme loud sound I still cannot describe to this day emerged from the valley underneath the temple and myself

I thought an earthquake was coming or the world was ending

my legs were shaking while I walked back down the stairs to reach back to the street
I thought my knees could collapse at any moment
Then i was like take your shit together and I turned hyperfocused on my feet one by one going down the endless seeming stairs walking back down scared for my life

In the song there is the same weird calmness that overtakes my mind when there is a very stressful situation that I recently discovered I have.

Here you only hear the sentence once but when I am composing It's repeated over 30 times and it becomes a 30min long auditory landscape

During the hike i felt thes feeling of hyper presence that over takes me and I don't hesitate I just go and exist and am extremely focused about my body for it to function

Like the opposite of dissassociation?

Like a forced (due to circumstances) meditation

Once back downstairs it seemed like nothing had happened. I asked around and no one else had heard this deafening sound... by @yliamsk7

my heart broke a little half way the day yesterday when I lost an important recording ˙◠˙ I was going to use many elements of that improv to base new layers of my next performance (◞‸◟,)

I used this prayer during my grieving process an I was singing it every day. By repeating it over and over and over again I started to my my own songs of loops and dissonant harmonies that helped my heart heal and deal with the world.
