POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
ACT AYCC delivered a petition with an incredible 60,240 signatures to the Finance Minister Katy Gallagher. It called on the government to end funding for fossil fuel subsidies and repurpose the Middle Arm Gas Hub funding for infrastructure that benefits Northern Territory communities.

Hannah Vardy is a student at ANU studying Climate Science and Law. She has previously worked on a number of large-scale campaigns and trainings as an ACT Co-ordinator for the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. This has included a campaign which saw hundreds of letters from young people hung outside Parliament House and handed over to the Labor government in August 2022, calling for more ambitious climate targets.

"It should go unsaid that the health and well-being of young people - the people who carry our world forward as we head into the future - should be a paramount consideration as our government approves bills and debates fossil fuel projects, that could contribute to climate change, that is shaping the world that we will be handed." Anjali Sharma, 18

"For me this is trying to change the way we do make those decisions and actually saying to future Australians and young people: we are going to put you first.” Senator David Pocock

We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Anjali Sharma and Senator David Pocock for addressing the gap in the system that is failing our children.

As parents of two small children that lived though the bushfires in Bermagui, the months of smoke in Canberra; who are raising children that still carry the trauma, who are hyper alert about signs of smoke, who are anxious about fire - we are so very grateful.

To know the former government appealed a decision saying they had a Duty of Care to children, and succeeded, was devastating to everyone who cares about children, and cares about the future of our planet.

Thank you Anjali and David for restoring our hope that the Government will finally be made to care for our future generations, for the sake of us all.

We should be able to have confidence that our governments will act in the best interests of our future generations and long term survival. The facts tell us otherwise. Time for change.

YES!! #ThisCantWait

Reposted from @leilamangos The government’s FAILURE to adhere to climate science and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s guidance is a VIOLATION of the HUMAN RIGHTS of every person who calls this planet home, PARTICULARLY the children and young people who are to inherent the planet and all its mistreatments!!! Myself and 5 other (incredible amazing talented brilliant) young people have been supported by EJA to submit a complaint to the UN today, imploring an adequate response from our government. Because if we can’t address the climate crisis, our entire future is at stake.

It's International Day of the Girl. We need to normalise conversations with girls about consent, safety, pleasure, contraception, demystify sex, and counter the messages around virginity, shame, masturbation and porn.

Two Brown Girls cover these issues in their 2nd & 3rd episodes, out now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.

In episode 2 on sex education, Tanvi & Divya discuss where they got their knowledge of sex from, how this has influenced their perceptions and attitudes towards sex, and how our cultural backgrounds have helped or hindered their journey.

In episode 3 sexual health professional,
BIPOC woman, Dr Jenny Leung, sheds some much needed knowledge on how our bodies function and how sex works!

You should definitely listen to these episodes. Dr Jenny answers if there's such a thing as a dick being too big and emphasises that girls have a right to their sexual expression

Check out this awesome art project from @ywag.era platforming young diverse artists. So much talent.

Reposted from @ywag.era Daisy (@lerennis and @dw.creates) is the last artist in our Platforming Young Artists Project.

Women are constantly judged for their fashion choices, whether that is wearing too little clothing or too much. Double Paralympic world champion Olivia Breen was told that her competition briefs were 'too short and inappropriate' by an official while competing at the English Championships this year. At the same championships, the Norwegian women's handball team was fined for playing in shorts instead of bikini bottoms. No matter how they dress, women can still be criticised and shamed. How a woman is dressed, the make-up they have on, or the way they choose to present, is too often used to determine their worth.

You Don't Get A Say.

Daisy also created a piece on diversity and inclusion that was featured earlier in this project series. Check out our previous posts to see it and the other artworks commissioned.

Over the past 2 weeks we have shared 8 commissioned pieces on various intersectional issues by young women. Thank you to Youth InterACT for the grant that enabled this project to happen.
Check out our previous posts if you missed any!

She holds lipstick in her right hand and a CGM transmitter in her left. On the right is a woman in a hijab. The phrase 'You don't get a say', is placed behind the two women in the top left corner and bottom right.]
