Made it to our third hotel of the trip @villa.leopardi This one is brand new, adults only, and opened only a month before I booked! We have a huge balcony overlooking the lake, and there's a tiny beach immediately in front of the hotel for those who want that inland seaside experience. I purposely booked a destination on the East side of Lake Garda (facing West) so we would get epic sunsets, and we were not disappointed! We drove for four hours through the mountains and vineyards, watching the signs go from German to German-Italian, and then we reached Trento when the signs, the architecture, the driving, and even the weather was suddenly completely 100% Italian. We stopped at Riva del Garda so I could take my first pic of the lake. At the northern tip of the lake (Lake Garda takes at least two hours to drive the length of), it's extraordinarily windy and there were thousands of windsurfers and kitesurfers zipping along. Guten Morgen. Bon dì. Buongiorno. I have learned so much from visiting this region. It's only been part of Italy for 100 years - before that, it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire - and so everyone speaks German as their first language, but with every sign also printed in Italian.
