This weekend felt like glitter exploded all over me with a side of bubbles hitting my face!!!!🫧✨ so yes, the NYC marathon hype is for good reason.

What an incredible experience running through the streets of NYC & seeing so many familiar faces this weekend. Thank to everyone who donated to Bras for Girls, and to @brasforgirls for letting me represent your amazing organization!

Big s/o to everyone who helped me slog through summer training in atx!! 🫶🏼✨ by @zv.dpt

Here is what I’m doing to ward off my oldest friend, shin splints 🤝

15 weeks into my block & these 4 things have prevented a flare of shin splits!

“How will I hold this pace for 26.2 miles??”

During training you are constantly running on tired legs, so of course hitting faster paces feels hard. Training should feel hard & it is a sign that you are building fitness.

Trust your training & your taper. It’s timed out so that your peak training has its greatest effects on race day!!

Come race day, you’ll have recovery, fitness & adrenaline on your side.

The trails never cease to challenge me and push me beyond my limits. You never know what can happen running a new distance, but somehow I walked away feeling alive & strong!!!

Thank you mama earth for giving me this playground & challenging me to navigate you with hops & skips & sweat & pain.

@mammothtrailfest thank you for putting on a killer event.

These 32 miles opened my eyes to what my body can do, and I fear this is just the beginning

Prehab, aka all the things im doing to prevent injury during my training block for an ultra and NYC marathon. Nothing crazy glamorous but key themes:

- targeting single leg strength & stability
- combo of strength and working in mechanics (aka teaching the right muscles to fire when running)

This has been front and center for me as I’ve been going through my recent marathon training block. The amount of strength I was doing before was not sustainable with my running volume, and tapering that down made me feel like a fraud PT (because I preach strength training to runners everyday).

That being said, I’ve been coming to terms with the idea of the ebb/flow of training goals. Throughout marathon training, the goal isn’t to BUILD strength but rather to maintain the strength you have to support the load of running.

Hey friends!!! I’m running the NYC marathon with @brasforgirls. They donate free, high-quality sports bras and breast health education to girls in underserved communities.

At least 1 in 4 girls do not have access to sports bras. Lack of a sports bra is one of the biggest reasons that girls stop sports especially between the ages of 10-14.

Bras for girls helps normalize changes that girls go through during puberty and gives them access to the necessary equipment and education so that they can be comfortable doing physical activity.

You can help girls stay in sport!!! Please donating to my fundraiser. The link is in my bio and every dollar counts!! 🫶🏼

Are your PTs this strong too? 🥵😌

Our team of performance PTs walks the walk & talks the talk—inside and outside of the clinic walls!

We believe this should be the norm in physical therapy, but unfortunately, it isn’t always. We train because we truly believe (& know) that movement is medicine—not only to keep ourselves doing the things we love, but because it helps us better understand the clients we work with.

Get your 🍑 in here!!!

P.s. no @zv.dpt & @dr.emilythepelvicpt didn’t plan on matching they truly are just on the same wavelength & muscle m@mís! by @zv.dpt

Rehab should build your capacity. Not limit it‼️

Rehab should be something that helps you build your capacity… not cap it! Yes, you may have to reel back on intensity or distance depending on what’s going on, but the end goal is to get you back doing more than you thought possible. Yes, low level exercise of course has it place, but our goal is getting you back to it and beyond. by @zv.dpt

Just your friendly neighborhood performance PTs preparing for our worldwide Netflix documentary to be streamed soon exposing some of our favorite endurance athletes (y’all)…‼️

A common conversation we have in clinic as performance physical therapists is guidance on returning to activity and/or how important it is to keep the easy days EASY. We can’t go 100000% every time and not expect an increased risk of injury or flare. Yes, minor things may occur as you train during your block… but we need to learn how to progressively load for a better overall performance! Your body NEEDS rest or recovery days… it’s not optional! When we say take the easy day in your training block, or that recovery is NECESSARY for good performance… TRUST IT. by @zv.dpt
