Appreciating the little moments of joy that life throws up, because you never know how many more you’ll have 🩷

The past few years have given me an entirely new outlook on life. After losing a good friend last year, losing my dear mum to a brain tumour a few years ago, and with a couple of friends deep in cancer treatment at the moment, you never really know what’s around the corner.

Late last year I had a couple of funky little health issues going on myself (a series of syncope / fainting incidents and some ongoing vertigo) which landed me in hospital and required some pretty thorough heart and brain testing, especially given my family history of A-fib and brain tumours. After being given the all clear to cautiously return to driving and exercise a month later, I thought bugger it I want to make the most of this.

Only Cal probably knew how nervous I was about swimming in open water on Sunday, which is obviously the riskiest part of a race if something is to happen health wise. My dad wasn’t super stoked on me racing and kindly reminded me that I have nothing to prove to anyone. He also knows how stubborn I am and left it at that 😅

I feel so grateful to have a healthy body to squeeze the most out of this life, for as long as God is giving me this gift of health.

Whatever season of life you’re in, celebrate the big stuff. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Do the things you’ve been wanting to do. Give your people some love and hugs. Each day is a freaking epic gift 💝 taken in Mooloolaba Triathlon by @aliseselsy

Mooloolaba tri is always such a vibe; not surprising as the second biggest triathlon in Oceania with 4400 athletes!

Today’s race honestly felt like a big welcome home party, especially with @courtneyakrigg @petemurray1912 & @tammybarker1 on the mic making all of us athletes feel like total rockstars 🥰

After 3yrs away from triathlon I couldn’t be more chuffed with 1st🥇in AG, first age grouper and 5th female overall ☺️I was a bit nervous that I’d forget how to race and put myself in the hurt locker; thankfully you don’t forget 😅

1500 Swim 🏊🏼‍♀️ - 20.19 - this went great👍
40k bike - 1.06.59 - the @quintanarootri V-PRi handled the windy AF conditions like a boss, and I’m pleased with this bike leg as I only got back on a bike about 12 weeks ago. Lots to build on here.
10k run - 44.23 - This was the big unknown for the day. With pretty minimal running mileage and almost exclusively treadmill training due to some pretty worn out knee cartilage, it’s a nice confidence boost that I can still be competitive by building the aerobic base primarily via swim & bike k’s.

First time wearing our @the.cupcake.cartel team @cupcke.apparel Nexus Pro aero suit and it’s an absolute beauty!!

Enjoying each finish line like it could be the last 🩷

Thanks to my excellent Sports Doc I have bought myself a wee bit more ‘low pain’ running time before retiring my old worn down knee🦵and I intend to make good use of it and enjoy every run until the body says no more 🙅🏼‍♀️

When you’re on borrowed time with something you love, it gives you a whole new appreciation for it 🥰

What an incredible weekend for the team, with Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice and Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast being the major highlights. We are still buzzing 💫
