Congratulations, Dr. Buxton-Martin! I can’t overstate how proud I am of my brother. We’re going through our PhD journeys at the same time and in the same city, and he finally got to the finish line. In his dissertation, Addison conducted groundbreaking research on how genetic variations in beneficial bacteria in plant roots impact the plant’s responses to parasites. I’ve seen my fair share of dissertation defenses, and his defense was probably the best delivery I’ve seen.

This is huge. I’m especially proud that we’re first-generation college students, and that he completed his PhD as the father of a baby and a toddler. My gift to him was a sweet new pair of Doc Martens shoes for Dr. Buxton-Martin. taken in University of Pennsylvania by @austin_mar
