A few details from BEATNIK’s new website, which I quietly relaunched earlier this year alongside the rebrand.

Clean structure, clear typography and personality in how it moves. I love exploring that balance: a pared-back interface with timing, transitions and scroll behaviour giving it character. As a Shopify Partner, I’m excited to offer my clients this depth of design, translating an identity into how a website behaves as well as how it looks. It’s an exciting platform to be working on.

Swipe through a few favourite moments.

Also, the cover features a new illustration we commissioned from @atomesk. The rebrand moved us away from a mascot-led identity, but we love the art form and want to keep supporting the people behind it. At BEATNIK, we’ve proudly commissioned illustrators from day one, including @ivo_yawns and @milenko_illustration. Fuck the AI slop doing the rounds. Commission artists. Pay people for their ideas.

A brief pause before the site opens, giving the wordmark a moment of its own. We’re so used to instantaneous browsing; I often use preloaders to set the pace and draw attention to the identity.

Movement sets the rhythm on the homepage. Scroll-driven transitions bring the photography into and out of the viewport, adding character to an otherwise pared-back layout.

Sticky product information sits alongside the gallery on the product pages, while the scroll sequence takes you through the photographs before continuing down the page. Below, a fully customisable related-products carousel encourages further browsing, while stock counters make availability clear. We’ve restocked our 6oz and 8oz bespoke EH3 cups made in collaboration with @frizbeeceramics. To the 8500 people who DM’d us asking if we sell our cups, this one’s for you.

Available in-store or on our website.

Each cup is made by hand so they’re all slightly different. taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_

We’ve not posted on Instagram for ages - partly because we’ve been too busy but also because who fucking cares about Instagram these days.

Anyway, here are our new takeaway cups and our new opening hours. Lots of snazzy new coffees and merch(!) coming soon 🫦 taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_

We’ve given our single dose menu a refresh and introduced a couple of exceptional coffees from Ethiopia, courtesy of new friends @terraformcoffee.

Terraform is a roasting brand founded in Shanghai in 2019. Their thoughtful approach to roasting ensures approachable, layered and drinkable coffees, while still bringing plenty of complexity to the cup. They work closely with producers and estates, building relationships and developing coffees that reflect their origin and the people behind them. There’s a real focus on consistency, quality and making coffee that’s better at every stage, without overcomplicating it.

We’ve got Lot 5 from Terraform’s collaboration with @alocoffee.et, a celebration of the 2026 harvest, a lactic fermented natural/slow dried lot and a 96h anaerobic natural heirloom from @eltocoffee.et.

Our first collaboration with a coffee roaster from China, and absolutely not our last. We’re buzzing to have this legendary outfit on our menu. Come through and try some great gear 🇨🇳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_

Four years in, we’ve given our coffee menu its biggest update.

The bright, expressive coffees that used to live exclusively on our filter menu now have a menu of their own. Every one is available as a pour over, espresso, or with milk where it makes sense.

We’ve taken plenty of inspiration from cafés we admire and the roasters constantly pushing coffee forward.

To kick things off: four exceptional coffees. Two from father-and-son duo Pepe & José Jijón, sourced and roasted by @helmcoffeeroasters in Indianapolis, and two from our long-time friends at @taithcoffee, including a ridiculous natural Pacamara from Finca La Alquería.

More considered and more precise. Four coffees we’re genuinely excited about.

Starts tomorrow. Come spend some money. taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_

The multi-roaster cafe is a dying breed. For the last 4 years we’ve worked hard to build relationships with incredible roasters and people around the world. If your stuff hits our shelf, you’re doing something right.

We’re proud to launch our second collaboration coffee, this time with @carter__coffee.

Danny and Sorley have been part of the BEATNIK story since day one, our first proper friends in the industry. Founded in 2025, Carter has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s most respected roasters. Their approach is simple: buy coffees because they taste incredible, build meaningful relationships with producers and let quality do the talking.

For this collaboration, we chose Chumeca: an anaerobic natural H17 hybrid from the La Chumeca micro mill in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica. The H17 variety is rare and highly sought after, known for producing intensely expressive and complex cup profiles.

Carter represents everything we admire about coffee: genuine people, exceptional standards and a commitment to doing things the right way. This collaboration is a celebration of that relationship.

To mark the launch, we’re handing over the bar next Saturday, 13th June. The Carter team will be behind the machine serving a menu built entirely around coffees they’re proud of, including Chumeca. It’s an extremely limited lot so come by, have a coffee and celebrate with us. taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_

We're still buzzing from last weekend’s Common Miles Weekender at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a special few days. The energy was unreal.

Big love to @beatnikcafe_ for being the perfect hosts, @circus_running for joining us to talk all things product, and to @sapgoodenergy and @pilotbeeruk for keeping everyone fuelled with post-run fuel and post-race beers.

Already counting down to next year. See you there. by @beatnikcafe_

The multi-roaster cafe is a dying breed. For the last 4 years we’ve worked hard to build relationships with incredible roasters and people around the world. If your stuff hits our shelf, you’re doing something right.

We’re really proud to announce the launch of our first collaboration coffee with @taithcoffee.

Taith are a fully independent, owner-operated cafe, roastery and community space, widely regarded as one of the best in Europe. Their attention to detail, ethical sourcing and “community not commodity” approach says everything. Clean, balanced, sweet coffees roasted with serious precision.

This release comes from @fincachorroalto by renowned producer Luz Ángela Rojas. A washed + thermal shock caturra chiroso with sharp lime acidity and ripe pineapple sweetness. Ripe cherries are floated, oxidised for 24 hours, dry-pulped, then oxidised again before being washed at 45°C to create thermal shock. The result is a coffee that’s vibrant, expressive and properly memorable. This innovative processing and experimental processing represent Rojas’s reputation as one of the world’s best. You may have tried this coffee before, but Taith’s approach to roasting gives this coffee a unique flavour profile.

This coffee feels like a perfect reflection of both Taith and BEATNIK. Thoughtful sourcing and careful process, loud as fuck in the cup and on the shelf.

We hope you love it as much as we do. taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_

Happy to be in good company with @amuletamuletamuletamuletamulet, @rude_coffee_cheltenham, @2323coffee and @noeud_coffee as we host @mirracoffee on their UK/France Pop-Up Tour.

@mirracoffee are taking over our bar this Friday afternoon with two espressos and two hand pours that reflect their approach: bright, beautiful, true. They’re a US-based Nordic-style roaster that keeps things clean and precise; their coffees show up as they are with minimal intervention.

Not had a takeover in a while so this is going to be a good one. Come through and represent Edinburgh correctly!!!!!!! taken in Edinburgh, United Kingdom by @beatnikcafe_
