I don’t have the words to express how excited I am to be a part of the @kollective.inc Nashville team 🖤

@kristi_wallen + @shanewallen care so much about people and the Nashville community, and it shows in everything they’ve built. They have created a space where you can show up wanting to get better, meet people who cheer you on, work on yourself and grow in community. I’ve been able to feel the effects of this place firsthand already through the community workouts, and when Kristi asked me to join their group fitness team as a yoga teacher, it was an immediate full body yes.

I’ll be teaching yoga in our group fitness room every Friday morning at 7:30 am (power flow) + every Sunday morning at 11 am (slow flow + sound bath) 🤍

Yoga has been a life-changing practice for me, and I can’t wait to share it with this community. Kollective’s focus on recovery and wellness being in the same space as performance and work resonates deeply with the balance that yoga has brought to my life, and my hope as a teacher is that our time together helps you build a deeper connection with your body, and leaves you feeling empowered to move and grow from a place of gratitude for what you’re already capable of.

This team is truly one of a kind, filled with so many dedicated, passionate and kind people, and I’m so thankful to be a part of it. I can’t wait to learn from and grow with all these amazing people and the rest of our Kollective Nashville community! The doors open SOON, and it’s all up from there.

See you soon, Nashville!!! Let’s get to work. 🖤💪🏼

so excited to be sharing two of my favorite things (yin yoga + sound healing) with the wonderful community at @almamvmtstudio ❤️‍🔥

join me weekly at 6 pm on thursdays for unheated Yin + Sound, 60 minutes of time spent reconnecting with your body, releasing held tension in spaces like your hips, shoulders and spine, and soothing your nervous system.

sound bowls are played intermittently throughout class and we end with a sound bath in an extended savasana so you can leave feeling rested and rebalanced. 🤍

one of the things I love most about Yin is that it was originally intended to balance out the Yang energy of power vinyasa classes, so it’s a great complement to more active movement styles! having both types of movement in our routines helps us stay balanced and grounded and that’s why I’ve loved incorporating more Yin into my own movement practice over the last couple of years. ☯️

all levels always, no prior experience necessary. just come as you are 🫶🏼 taken in Alma Yoga and Movement by @brookeinbalance

so beyond excited to share that starting next week, I’ll be offering a brand new class at @shaktipoweryoga weekly on Wednesdays at 7:15 pm — a $10 candlelight slow flow 🕯️✨

This class has been on my heart for a while, and I’m so grateful to @shaktiyogil and @hotyogakelly for giving me the space to grow into teaching something that feels so aligned with who I am and how I love to practice. Slower, more intentional movement has been such a powerful way for me to connect deeper with my body — focusing less on how things look, and more on how they feel.

There’s already enough rushing in the world around us. What I feel like we really need are more chances to slow down, to move with presence, and to reconnect inward. That’s why it means so much to me that this will stay a $10 community class, keeping this kind of grounding practice accessible and available to all.

In this class each week by soothing candlelight, we’ll guide inward. Longer holds, softer light, slower transitions — all still done in the heat and designed to help you get out of your head and into your body. My hope is that this practice will feel grounding, challenging, and deeply restorative all at once, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

See you on your mat soon. ✨ taken in Shakti Power Yoga by @brookeinbalance

Had a request for this one - I play my singing bowls in savasana for most of my classes but every once in a while I’ll teach a corporate session or group private where I don’t bring those, so these are some of my go to songs (no lyrics) to play in that final resting shape. 🤍

These can also easily be used for restorative or yin classes, or in the wind down portion of a more active class as well! I love all of these artists for ambient / mellow music.

Save for the next time you need a song to use in savasana for your class! 🎶 taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @brookeinbalance

My shoulders were feeling skrunkly (new favorite word btw) at the end of the day today and this shape never fails to help loosen everything in my upper body up and create more space in areas that feel tight.

I most commonly hear this shape called whale pose but in yin have also heard it as baby wing and broken wing (baby wing is my fave), I’m not sure if one is right or wrong so if you’re a yoga teacher and have a preferred name for this shape let me know 😆

Save this for the next time your upper body needs some help at the end of a long day 🤍 taken in Shakti Power Yoga by @brookeinbalance

I’ve loved making playlists since long before I ever became a yoga teacher, and even though music isn’t everything, it can do a lot to influence the feel of a class and I loooove finding new music that makes me want to move.

these are some recent and often repeated faves on my slow flow playlists. save for the next time you get stuck in a playlist-making rut and need some inspiration 💛 taken in Shakti Power Yoga by @brookeinbalance

After being at a desk all day typing and sitting in meetings, my side body alwayyyyys needs a little love / side body stretches feel SO good.

This side lying pose with a block underneath the bottom ribs is spicy in the best way, with enough sensation to focus on and help you land in your body and shift away from the mental chaos of work or a long day, and once you relax into it, the space it creates through both sides of the body is an instant mood-booster.

Save this for the next time you need a lil reset between your 9-5 and your 5-9. (Which I highly recommend btw, that’s a topic I’ll save for another time but especially if you work remotely, having a closing routine / ritual for your work day before you move on with your evenings is KEY) 💻🧘🏼‍♀️

+ also keep your eye on @wildgracewellness bc this pose, fully guided, may or may not be in one of my classes on there that will be dropping in the next couple of weeks 👀 taken in Alma Yoga and Movement by @brookeinbalance

Over the moon excited to share that I’ll be joining the team + teaching yin, restorative, slow flows and more online at @wildgracewellness 💫🦋

I decided to start posting + sharing on this page more consistently a couple of months back, not because I’m trying to become an influencer, but because I felt like it was time to open myself up to new opportunities, and I knew deep down that if I wanted new opportunities to find me, they needed to be able to see me. I saw someone say posting online is just increasing your surface area, so even though it terrified me (hello fear of being seen), I just started, and hoped it would lead me to new people and opportunities that felt aligned, and to say it has would be a wild understatement. 🥹

I’ve had friends and students ask me about recording classes or meditations and posting them online or on YouTube (which I’m so honored by!!) and the idea felt so interesting but I honestly just did not have the capacity to try to start something like that on my own.

So when @gracehargroder reached out about potentially joining her team and starting to teach online at wild grace wellness, it immediately felt like a full body yes. Her platform and online classes have been such a go-to resource for me when traveling or practicing from home, and I also just admire her so much as a teacher and friend. She has such an incredible vision for wild grace and is also just SO encouraging, empowering and FUN to work with (see her contagious joy at the end of the video above when I finished teaching my first online class after being terrified to start)!

I am so lit up by being able to share this practice I love so much in a new way through wild grace and so excited for all of the wonderful things to come. 🤍

Fall into Being — our full seasonal collection of practices through December, and the recipe guide we’ve been building — opens tomorrow morning. More on this soon, but follow along @wildgracewellness for allll the resources to build your home practice and rituals / routines to live your most vibrant, alive, and aligned life 🌞🍂

Just some truth I’ve been sitting with recently… ☁️

Not always, but sometimes I feel like in the yoga world, practicing contentment can be a shield for being scared to chase after something new.

I’ve certainly used it that way in the past. Turned down opportunities or not gone after something that lit me up because I felt too scared of the growth it would inevitably bring, and then relating it back to practicing being content with my life / body / progress on my goals / etc as they are right now as an excuse.

And don’t get me wrong, I think it is so, so important to practice contentment and gratitude for where you are in your life right now. I made a post last week about how if you never learn how to appreciate what’s in front of you, just striving for more is never going to be the thing make anything feel like enough.

And I’m realizing recently that contentment was never supposed to mean staying still or staying small. My definition of it these days looks more like being the place that I move from that without relying on the next thing or goal I hit to “fix” me or my life.

Because peace and ambition can exist in the same space, and I’m learning that when you only say yes the opportunities that feel deeply aligned with who you want to become and the direction you want to move in, you don’t have to sacrifice one to hold the other.

Learning how to hold both at the same time has been a massive point of growth in the last few months that have felt very transitional, and it has me looking forward to what is coming next in a really beautiful way. 🦋

So if you start to talk yourself out of something this week and feel tempted to fall back on the idea that you should just be content where you are and that somehow meaning you can’t seek more, maybe ask yourself what it might look like to let both things exist at once.

Okay that’s all love you mean it byeeeee taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @brookeinbalance

Woke up very sore today thanks to mat pilates (thx @mariechailosky) so these are the two poses I did this morning and after my class tonight to help loosen up some of the tightness in my glutes and outer hips.

Save this for the next time you wake up after a leg day or mat pilates class and struggle to walk up the stairs 😆🤍 taken in Alma Yoga and Movement by @brookeinbalance

Not guaranteeing I’m done with the travel content, but we’re back with the educational yoga videos after a slight hiatus 💃

If you’ve ever heard half-pigeon called in a class and dreaded it because it just doesn’t feel *right* in your body, here are a few variations to try that might make it feel more supportive 🧘🏼‍♀️

I’ve had knee issues on and off my whole life (shoutout to the high school cheerleading coach I had that made me hate the sport, and who among other things, made 16 year old me throw a tumbling skill she knew I didn’t have on a concrete floor for ruining my knees for life! so fun!) so there are times when half pigeon just does nottt feel great for me.

I’ve been taught some great and easy ways to make the pose feel more supportive over the years and now it’s one of my favorites! Make the pose fit your body, don’t make your body fit the pose 🫡

Happy Friday y’all! Hope you all have a wonderful and restful weekend ahead 💫 taken in Alma Yoga and Movement by @brookeinbalance

I’m currently very sore, thanks to getting back into my more regular movement / workout routine after traveling for two weeks, so today was all about some slow movements that my body was craving 🌀

I’ve been loving playing around with using the bolster in different ways to bring different sensations to stretches or shapes I do all the time and it’s been a fun way to get present in my body.

Hope you’re having a restful and fun long weekend and that you made some time today to move your body! Save this for the next time you’re feeling sore and need some simple movement that just feels good. 💫 taken in Shakti Power Yoga by @brookeinbalance
