a few years ago an NYU intern on our team sent a cold email to 642 people. 98% opened it and 21% replied

she wasn't pitching anything... she asked them to be interviewed for a market research report. a lot of them even offered to hop on a call

when was the last time you reached out to a prospect without asking for anything? by @charlesgaudet

Joel, one of our members, closed his first deal back in 2023 about two weeks after launching... and it was high-ticket. that's fast, and honestly not normal, so please don't hold yourself to that

the part I'd steal is the timing. early on he was sometimes offering a call way too soon in his conversations, before the other person had said much. so he started saving the ask for the end, after they'd been talking about their own business for a while and their guard was down

how many messages in do you usually make the ask? by @charlesgaudet

"I'll get back to selling once things calm down"... yeah, I've said it. probably more than once.

Lyndsi, one of our members, put it better than I could... when things got busy, sales efforts were the first to fall by the wayside. and you don't feel it right away, which is the sneaky part, it shows up a month or two later as a thin calendar

the conversations that actually fit in a crazy week are the research kind, where you ask someone about their business and they do the talking. nobody's getting pitched so people say yes

what's the conversation you keep putting off until things calm down? by @charlesgaudet

when you're slammed your first call with a prospect gets pitchy fast... you lead with the offer and kind of hope it lands

one of our members told us about a cold email he got back in 2023 from a college intern doing research. he didn't delete it, he wanted to help. this is a guy who sends sales emails straight to spam, by the way

it read like somebody trying to learn from him, not a pitch, and that's what got him

think about your last first call... who did more of the talking? by @charlesgaudet

Nine days into the month, the October 2026 Cohort SOLD OUT. We won't be taking on any new Board Members until sometime in November.

9 people are already on the waitlist.

You see, every Board Member gets personal attention. Custom roadmaps. Leveled-up accountability. You can't do that well with an unlimited room.

So we made a hard call. We're limiting new members and starting a waitlist.

Some people think that's crazy. Turning away buyers? But we've always been in the results business. Results come before our own revenue and profits.

Here's what drove the surge of buyers. Steal what fits your business.

1. Workshops were the main conversion path.
58 registrations. 62% showed up. 36% booked a call. 38% bought within the first five days.

2. MRC keeps performing.
We kept the retargeting and nurture campaigns running after the campaign. MRC clients converted the easiest and were the most qualified.

3. No one got a pitch. Everyone was Pre-Sold.
After September 15ish, we held zero sales calls. Everyone went to a Business Growth Stack Call instead. Once they saw what was possible for their business, they wanted in… no pitch.

4. Consumption drove conversions.
100% of sales came from prospects who consumed our content. New clients came from our socials, website, MRC, and workshops.

One new Diamond Client closed in a single call. His opening line: "I watched all your videos, I don't need a pitch. I only want to know how to get started."

That's the goal. By the time they talk to you, the selling is done.

Which of these four are you running in your business right now? And which one should you start this month?

With gratitude,
Charlie by @charlesgaudet

Here's a number I shared in one of our trainings back in 2025.

So our team does these short research interviews with founders and CEOs. They're about 15 minutes, and the whole conversation is about their business. That's really it.

At the very end, if somebody's a good fit, we offer them a call. And roughly 67% of them say yes.

I promise there's no magic line. It's more that by the time we ask, they've spent 15 minutes talking about their own business with someone who was actually listening to them... and that's a really different spot to make an offer from than some cold first message out of nowhere.

Problem is when you're slammed, the cold first message is usually what goes out, right? No time, so the offer goes first.

Anyway I'm curious... when's the last time a total stranger asked about YOUR business before they tried to sell you something? by @charlesgaudet

One of our members was telling me what his inbox looks like back in 2023. I'm not exaggerating, this is how he put it: "I get a hundred emails a day, man. I am wiping people off the face of the planet now through our spam filter, never to be seen again."

And yet he kept ONE. Some college intern (wasn't ours, just to be clear) had emailed asking if he'd help with research on entrepreneurs who grow companies, and he just... didn't delete it. He said it felt like a student trying to learn, not a sales guy trying to pitch him.

That's the bit I'd think about if outreach has fallen off your plate lately. Whoever you want to sell to is probably every bit as slammed as you, and a pitch as the first thing they ever see from you is going right in the pile with the rest.

Anyway I'm curious... what's the last email from a total stranger you actually kept? by @charlesgaudet

Lyndsi runs a marketing agency, and she built it the way a lot of us did... referrals, networking, a lot of coffee meetings.

Then life got a lot busier and those coffee meetings got harder to get to. Here's how she described what happened next:

"When things got busy, sales efforts were the first to fall by the wayside. There was no one else to do it. And I was already maxed out."

I think about that line a lot when I talk to owners who are booked solid right now. Nobody's sitting around waiting on your follow-up email. A client IS waiting on the deliverable. So the deliverable wins every time, and the selling just quietly waits for a free hour that never really shows up.

Once selling stopped depending on her free hours, her sales nearly doubled.

So I'm curious... what's the one thing in your business that only gets done when you find a free hour? by @charlesgaudet

"I'll get back to selling once things calm down."

I've said it. Probably you have too.

The catch is it doesn't calm down. The big project ends, you finally get a breather, you look at next month... and there's not much there. So you go out and sell when you really need the deal, which is about the hardest time to do it.

I don't even think it's discipline. Somebody's always waiting on the client work. Nobody's waiting on your outreach. Easy to see which one wins.

When's the last time things calmed down for you? Like actually calmed down. What month? by @charlesgaudet
