Escape the Founders Trap™️
Are you the engine or the ceiling?
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Jerson runs outbound for us, and he keeps his own tracking notes. On our last research campaign, 46.82% of the people we sent a LinkedIn connection request to accepted. We averaged about 4 conversations a day.

Those conversations were with founders about their own business, for a research report we were putting together. A founder gets a pile of requests every week. The one asking what they know is easy to say yes to.

What's the worst connection request you got this week? No names, please lol by @predictableprofits

Quick one.

Most cold outreach leads with a pitch. We don't.

Benjamin Arabov at Grow Enrollments went from a 0.5% response rate to 5% once he started warming people up with research before asking for anything. Same list. Just a different first move.

A cold pitch into a cold inbox is a rough way to start. We've all gotten those.

Would you take a sales call from a stranger this week? We wouldn't either, most weeks.

Now say the same stranger asked how your business is doing, because they're putting together a research report on your industry. Kind of a different feeling, right?

That's how our research campaigns start. Founders talk about their own business and we mostly listen. Some of those conversations lead somewhere later and some don't. Either way nobody got pitched.

So what's one thing that would still make you say no to that second message? by @predictableprofits

Quick one for anyone who does their own selling.

On a lot of first sales calls, the seller is the expert. They walk through the deck, explain the offer and handle objections. The prospect mostly listens.

Our research interviews run the other way. The founder we're interviewing is the expert, because it's their business and their industry. We ask questions and they do most of the talking. If it's a good fit, the offer only comes up at the very end.

From what we've seen, people relax a lot more when they're the one getting asked what they think.

Earlier this month a founder got on a call with our team. He runs a $1M to $3M firm, and he told us he gets "so much garbage in messages and whatnot and email and Linkedin and everything."

Honestly, fair.

So how'd we end up on a call with him? He'd gotten our research invitation. In his words, "y'all were doing a survey."

We keep coming back to that one. This is the guy a lot of firms are trying to reach, and he's tuning nearly all of it out. Our invite wasn't selling him anything though. It asked him to be part of the research.

What's the last message from a stranger that you actually answered? What made you answer? by @predictableprofits

Nine days into the month, the October 2026 Cohort SOLD OUT. We won't be taking on any new Board Members until sometime in November.

9 people are already on the waitlist.

You see, every Board Member gets personal attention. Custom roadmaps. Leveled-up accountability. You can't do that well with an unlimited room.

So we made a hard call. We're limiting new members and starting a waitlist.

Some people think that's crazy. Turning away buyers? But we've always been in the results business. Results come before our own revenue and profits.

Here's what drove the surge of buyers. Steal what fits your business.

1. Workshops were the main conversion path.
58 registrations. 62% showed up. 36% booked a call. 38% bought within the first five days.

2. MRC keeps performing.
We kept the retargeting and nurture campaigns running after the campaign. MRC clients converted the easiest and were the most qualified.

3. No one got a pitch. Everyone was Pre-Sold.
After September 15ish, we held zero sales calls. Everyone went to a Business Growth Stack Call instead. Once they saw what was possible for their business, they wanted in… no pitch.

4. Consumption drove conversions.
100% of sales came from prospects who consumed our content. New clients came from our socials, website, MRC, and workshops.

One new Diamond Client closed in a single call. His opening line: "I watched all your videos, I don't need a pitch. I only want to know how to get started."

That's the goal. By the time they talk to you, the selling is done.

Which of these four are you running in your business right now? And which one should you start this month?

With gratitude,

Would you rather get pitched, or get asked what you think?

Yeah... we figured. We'd bet good money you didn't pick the pitch. When somebody asks for your opinion it kind of feels like they respect what you know, and when a stranger pitches you it feels like one more thing in the inbox to deal with.

Funny thing is, when it gets busy, the messages that go out from a lot of firms are... the pitch. There's no time, so the offer goes first and the actual conversation just gets skipped. And hey, we've been there.

So what's a question someone asked you that made you actually want to keep talking to them? Tell us below. by @predictableprofits

If you're slammed right now, here's a quick one. Count how many of these sound like your firm.

Your last few new clients all came in through referrals. You can't really think of a sales conversation you started this week. When delivery picks up, the follow-ups kind of stop. And whatever selling does happen, happens after the client work's done for the day.

Got a few? That doesn't mean anything's wrong with the business. We talk to really good firms that would check all four. It just means new business is living off whatever time is left over at the end of the day, which in a busy month isn't much.

So what's your number? Comment 0 to 4, we're curious. by @predictableprofits

Okay, quick one. Monday morning you open up your week... what do you look at first?

We'd bet it's the calendar. Totally fair, that's where all the client calls and deadlines live. And when it's packed it kind of feels like the business is doing great, which, to be fair, it might be.

But that calendar is really only telling you about this month. The next few months are in your pipeline, and since nothing in there is due today, it's super easy to not look at it for weeks. We've been guilty of that ourselves.

Which one'd you look at first this week? A for calendar, B for pipeline, C for neither. Tell us below. by @predictableprofits

Back in 2023 we ran a study on agency sales and marketing. When we asked agencies about their most successful lead source, 51% said word of mouth and referrals.

That's not a knock on anyone. If referrals built your firm, it usually means clients like your work.

But the same study had another number we keep coming back to. Among the ones focused on growth, the biggest concern was filling the sales pipeline. 26% of them said so.

Our read (and it's just our read): a lot of firms are growing on conversations somebody else starts. So when everybody's buried in client work, nobody's starting new ones, and the pipeline gets thin without anyone noticing.

We're curious if that's still true in 2026. Where did your last new client come from... A, a referral, or B, a conversation you started? by @predictableprofits

What are we building all of it for?

My conversation with @charlesgaudet started with AI and the future of business, but it became a conversation about so much more.

We talked about using AI to give people more time to do the work that matters. Building a business that doesn’t consume you. And how our definition of success can change over time.

Charlie also shared how losing his father shifted his perspective.

The things that once felt important began to look different.

This one is about business, technology and growth. But it’s also about the people we love and remembering why we’re building in the first place.

A new episode of Powered by Authenticity is available now on all streaming platforms (links in bio).

And a huge thank you to the @geneseechamber for welcoming us into their conference room to record this conversation. We appreciate your continued support of Powered by Authenticity more than you know!

As always, a shoutout to Producer @knutekjc93 for his continued support of all things podcast!! Appreciate it more than you know. by @predictableprofits

Nobody pitched. 20.3% bought anyway.

Two hours in a room of qualified prospects, and not one person got asked to buy. No typical 20-minute pressure pitch. No “so what would it take to get you started today.”

20.3% of them bought inside five days.

Our best run hit 42%. That was one room, and I’m not going to pretend it’s the average. Honestly, I still can’t tell you why that room ran so far ahead of a typical one.

The advice everyone gets is to fix the close. Sharper deck, better objection handling, hire a closer. So you polish the pitch, and you get better at the thing that’s standing in the way.

A pitch is what you reach for when the belief isn’t built yet. Build the belief first and there’s nothing left to sell in the room.

Old way: convince them while they’re in front of you.
New way: they arrive already decided, and the room only confirms it.

If you want the walkthrough of how we build a room like that, comment PRESOLD and I’ll send you what’s happening Sept 23. by @predictableprofits
