You can't always do it by yourself

When it comes to your goals, sometimes it takes a village or at least some extra help. Behind THIS is an incredible group of supportive friends, a coach (yes I have a coach too), a therapist, and my dawg 🐺

Asking for help is typically the biggest obstacle for most people that gets in the way of reaching their goals whether it's health, performance or goals outside the gym.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You learn and accept help along the way. That's how you get far.

The wise man understands that he knows nothing. Through learning, we're able to better ourselves and the world around us.

If you're interested in learning how to be more consistent in the gym, with your nutrition, or how to just be a better version of yourself DM me "LEARN" for 10% off coaching.

Random workouts won't cut it if you want to take your bounce to the next level.

Knowing the difference between working out and training will be really important to unlocking more bounce.

👶🏽 Playing basketball and doing random workouts work well until they don't. This works well if you're a young athlete or someone who has a relatively low training age.

🦍 Your body is built to keep adapting. And it will adapt to just playing basketball and getting in workouts here and there. So what happens when the gains stop...

Here are some tips:
1️⃣ Follow a structured program built around periodization and progressively getting stronger in the gym
2️⃣ Train hard but recover harder. Making sure you eat right, get enough sleep, and taking more rest days will help you recover and therefore make more gains. More isn't ALWAYS better.

⛽ Remember training is the GPS telling your body where to go (I.e. Get stronger, jump higher) but rest is the fuel to enable it to actually get there

If you’re ready to stop doing random workouts and start training like an athlete, shoot me a DM.

First dunk off lob!! I'm on cloud 9 right now ☁️

Big shout-out to @johnevans_thp and @isaiahrivera1 to get me to this point. They have been an immense help in navigating me through so many injuries and just moving dunking forward regarding training and rehab.

Big shout-out to @jordankilganon for that perfect lob!! I've been struggling for months getting that down 🙏🏽

Shout-out to @jump.science for giving me the inspiration since my high school and college years that anything is possible with good training and nutrition

Shout-out to @benthebounce for helping get my dunking journey started in my 30s again. I definitely saw a lot of improvement during my time with him

Big shout-out to @overthehilldunker for putting together such an amazing organization together in @thedunkcamp Keep doing the Lord's work 👏🏽

When ARE box jumps useful?

1️⃣Offloading + explosive intent
Can be useful in structured programming, rehab/return to sport, or introducing jumping to less-trained athletes.

It's great for generating max intent and effort while reducing landing demands on the knees and back

2️⃣ Jump variety + fun
Not every exercise needs to be the most optimal and specific option all the time. Just ripping it with the boyz and/or ladies can be really fun.

Variety can keep training engaging and give athletes another way to express explosiveness

Tyler and I were just having some fun while prepping for the very first @apexathlete.official
competition back in October 2025

5 things I'd tell myself if I had to do it all again (note: added 7"+ on my vert & dunked for the first time ever, while in my 30s):

1️⃣ THERE'S NO MAGICAL WORKOUT OR EXERCISE. A lot of vertical jump content focuses on exercises, sets, reps, and intensity. I don't always post about it because it can be a bit overrated in my opinion: the best program is one YOU CAN adapt to and progress with.

It's about identifying the qualities you need to reach your goal and training them accordingly.

2️⃣ EVERYONE IS A DIFFERENT PUZZLE. Your training should be individualized to your different strengths, weaknesses, training histories, and needs. There's no universally perfect set-and-rep scheme so stop looking for it. Stay curious and open minded with training and play the long game.

Programming guidelines are a starting point, not gospel. Learn to recognize how YOUR body responds and adjust accordingly. The goal isn't to see how much training you can survive. It's to do enough to stimulate progress without compromising your ability to keep training.

3️⃣ LESS IS MORE. Especially important if you're older, coming back from a long hiatus, or just starting out. Start with what you can recover from, build gradually, and give your body time to adapt. You don't need to do everything at once.

Prehab and therapeutic exercises have their place, but managing your sprinting and jumping volume is one of your most important tools for managing injury risk.

4️⃣ SET REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS. Progress usually takes longer than you think. Gains might come quickly in the beginning, but they'll eventually slow down. That's normal. Injuries, plateaus, and setbacks can happen, too. Don't let them convince you that you're failing.

5️⃣ DO THE THING. Put in your reps and understand the technical aspects of your goal, identify your deficiencies, and prioritize what needs improvement. Developing strength and power matters, but so does learning to apply those qualities to the actual skill you're trying to master. Learning (or relearning) a skill takes time. Be patient with yourself.

Men’s Health just said: "athleticism is the new fitness flex". You now have CBum and Larry Wheels training to be more athletic. Not only is this shift towards athleticism happening, it's 1000% for the better.

The fitness industry seems to finally be catching up but I've always been fascinated by training like an athlete since I was a kid. Getting stronger, jumping higher, running faster, moving better, developing coordination, and seeing what your body is actually capable of doing. Now at 35, that hasn't changed. I'd rather be chasing a higher vertical, a faster 40, and new feats of strength than making aesthetics the sole purpose of my training.

Of course, hypertrophy ("bodybuilding") training absolutely has a place in a well-rounded program. But somewhere along the way, bodybuilding became the default framework for general fitness...

You can build an impressive physique while neglecting entire physical qualities that make you capable, resilient, and independent as you age. The funny part is that my physique got better as I started training like an athlete and so many of my clients have experienced the same

Outside of strength, power, speed, coordination, balance, mobility, and the ability to actually use your strength are things that can help you play sports with your friends, keep up with your kids, explore new hobbies, move confidently as you get older, and maintain a higher quality of life for as long as possible. These aren't just qualities reserved for competitive athletes

Super underrated benefit: it changes your relationship with your body. When your goals are tied to what you can do rather than what you look like, fitness can become a much more rewarding pursuit. Instead of judging your progress primarily by the mirror, your body fat percentage, or the number on the scale, you have a reason to continue long after you've reached some arbitrary physique goal.

Because the goal is to keep fitness as part of your life for as long as you can, sooner or later aesthetics won't be enough to keep you motivated to take care of your body. It can be a lot more sustainable path of fitness.

The online coaching space doesn't need another dude in a lambo promising you 10K months if you just buy their course

Apparently there's no shortage of business coaches selling the dream of financial freedom, six-figure businesses, and endless clients. But how many are actually teaching you how to BUILD and RUN a business?

I was in business for over 10 years before going into coaching

I graduated with a degree in business, interned at the white house, SEC, worked in consulting firms for 10 years before landing a job at the biggest tech company in the world, Meta...

Then completely starting over to go into fitness and performance. I've seen the importance of having the right systems, processes, infrastructure, and operational foundation. And I've experienced firsthand what it takes to acquire clients, build relationships, and grow a coaching business without needing a massive following.

Because getting clients is only one part of the equation.

What about your business model? Your offer? Your finances? Client onboarding and retention? The systems that keep everything running? And how do you build something sustainable instead of constantly chasing the next sale?

I'm working on a mentorship for fitness coaches who want to start or grow their online coaching business covering the entire business, not just content and sales.

No get-rich-quick promises. No cookie-cutter blueprint pretending every business is the same. Just practical education, actionable resources, and guidance to help you build a business that actually works meant for folks with no previous business experience or knowledge

I'm starting small and looking to connect with a handful of coaches who want to be part of the process.

If you're a fitness coach looking to build or grow your online business, just shoot me DM or comment here. I'd love to hear what you're working on 🤝

One of the craziest client transformations over the years was with @liz_queenextra

We started around late 2023 off of a program I launched and started 1:1 coaching early 2024

We went on to lose roughly 70lbs together, which is insane. It wasn't always linear but she was willing to put in the work and never give up on herself, the process and me as her coach

There's so much growth as a person she had done that the physical accomplishments were merely byproducts of the person she became

From not being able to do one single bodyweight dip to being able to rep out multiple, that was such a cool side effect of the whole journey.

Outside of the physical accomplishments. She
✅ Is much more confident as a person
✅ Is much better at setting healthy boundaries and putting herself and health first
✅ Has a better relationship with food and the scale
✅ Knows how to make she is adequately fueled throughout the day
✅ Is much more proficient in her exercise technique

The list goes on and on. So proud of her for trusting me and trusting the process

She is truly a great example of hard work but also the right work over time... imperfectly consistent.

I'm 35 and hunting for that 40" vertical

Whether it is getting in shape, pursuing a lofty athletic goal or starting a business...most people don't try for fear of not only failing but giving too many other people power over what they think of you

The older I've gotten, the more silly I've realized how it is to care so much about what people think. Most people in life, don't know what they're doing either. Most people have the same fears as you and probably project their insecurities to other people

Don't give so much credence and power to everyone else. The real ones will support you and tell you to get after whatever you want

Join me on the journey. No PEDs. No TRT. no peptides. Just smart imperfectly consistent training.
