Just adding this photo of all the books together!

Sending the HUGEST congratulations to @rhianillustrates who is one of only three illustrators on the Shortlist for the Klaus Flugge Prize. I could not be more proud of her and there is no doubt that her beautiful artwork has made 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐃'𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑 the beautiful, heart-wrenching yet ultimately uplifting book that it is.

Congratulations, too, to the absolutely fantastic @emmafarrarons and @mikeyplease. What an exhilarating shortlist!

A Light in the Autumn Night, written by @frances_tosdevin and illustrated by @sophiaoconnorillustration , is a gorgeous Halloween woodland adventure.

Little velvety Mole is scared of the dark, but he bravely helps his friends by lighting their candles. When Mole sets off into the night to make sure his friends are safe, he becomes lost in the dark wood. The shadows and noises are frightening, but his friends soon find him, light the way home and show him the beauty of nighttime.

It’s a beautifully illustrated triumph of a book — warm, cosy and reassuring.

The perfect story for a chilly autumn night, with a cup of warm milk before bedtime.

Here’s my fun photoshoot with #mole from #alightintheautumnnight. A gentle Halloween book by @frances_tosdevin @sophiaoconnorillustration and @foxandinkbooks. And yes I grew a pumpkin next to my front door. I think a wall dwelling pumpkin fell into the dirt and hid, last autumn. Perhaps I could carve one like Moles this year? He was gorgeous to make, along with his packpack and other things. by @frances_tosdevin
