Showcasing gems of the past💠💯
POSTS STORIES REELS
Despite The Peacemaker franchise being one of DC’s newer shows, Peacemaker has actually been around since 1966. Originally being owned by Charlton Comics, DC Comics bought most of their superhero characters in the 1980’s. 🦸‍♂️ With Peacemaker now being a DC character, his first Comic appearance in the DC universe was Crisis on Infinite earths #6 in 1985. 📚 While Peacemaker has had appearances in DC Comics throughout the years ,including even being a mentor and ally to Blue Beetle, he’s been a pretty niche DC anti hero until the release of The Suicide Squad movie in 2021, played by John Cena, where the anti hero’s popularity skyrocketed, so popular that DC and director/ now head of DC Studios James Gunn gave him his own TV series on HBO Max.🎬 Peacemaker was added as a DLC fighter to Mortal Kombat to promote the hype of the Peacemaker TV series, with John Cena even coming back to voice and do the motion capture. If you’ve watched the movies and know the character, you would know he’s an anti hero, not a traditional superhero, as even though his mission is keeping the peace, he will kill anybody and everybody just for the sake of peace, with him also being very brutal and violent, which makes him a perfect character to be in a Mortal Kombat game, with Mortal Kombat also being owned by Warner Bros alongside owning DC. 📼 Shout out @nohearthazzy for the gameplay of Peacemaker in his Alt. Costume 🎮 In partnership with @kulturefrmthekrypt 💎 #throwback #peacemaker #dccomics #didyouknowthis fy by @gngstanostalgia
Both Mortal Kombat 2 & Scary Movie 6 just dropped this summer, in which the latter heavily parodies the Scream series, even using Ghostface as their main killer in their movies.🔪 For y’all Scream fans & horror lovers, yes that is the legend himself, Roger L. Jackson voicing Ghostface even in Mortal Kombat, with Skeet Ulrich even providing the motion capture for when Ghostface is unmasked, which should let you know Billy Loomis from the original Scream is the Ghostface in Mortal Kombat.🥶 Y’all may be thinking, Ghostface is just a guy with a knife, but the in-game lore is that Billy Loomis recruits 2 other Mortal Kombat characters to be take on the Ghostface persona with him & team up, which is extremely accurate to how there’s multiple Ghostfaces in the Scream movies.📼 Ghostface was added as a DLC fighter to the newest Mortal Kombat 2024 as part of the “Khaos Reigns” story expansion, which also included Conan The Barbarian & even the T-1000 from the Terminator franchise as DLC characters too.🩸 The reason Ghostface came to Mortal Kombat is because Mortal Kombat isn’t new to having famous horror characters show up in their Games, with Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Alien & even Predator being in past games, fitting the ultra-violent fighting game.🐉 Shout out @nohearthazzy for the gameplay 🎮 In partnership with @kulturefrmthekrypt 💎 #throwback #horror #nostalgia #didyouknowthis #fy by @gngstanostalgia
A limited edition throwback for real🔥 Sourced from Facebook, take a look at this rare photo of legendary West Coast rappers Ice T and King T (formerly King “Tee”) playing Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) at Ice T’s old crib back in the day, enjoying their come ups📼 #throwback #90s #nostalgia #didyouknowthis #rare by @gngstanostalgia
Disney is notorious for putting cameos from their different films into their others, but let’s rewind to the Golden Age of Disney, also known as The Disney Renaissance (their certified bangers they dropped from 1989-1999)⏮️ Y’all who watched the original Lion King, which dropped in 1994, remember that scene when Zazu said that Scar would make a “very handsome throw rug” ? Well Disney decided to follow through with that joke in their Hercules movie, which dropped 3 years after.🎬 The same Disney animator who worked on Scar also worked on hercules for the film, actually put Scar as the pelt worn by Hercules in the scene shown above as a nod to that Zazu joke😂 which was also clever at the same time because Scar also resembled the Nemean Lion that Hercules defeats in the movie as well.🏛️ I’m sure a lot of y’all would agree that Disney back then was way darker & hit harder when compared to Disney today. 📼 #throwback #disney #nostalgia #didyouknowthis #fy by @gngstanostalgia
Had to collab with @nohearthazzy after seeing this @stolenarts_ belt🥶 Based on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s endoskeleton as The T-800 in the first franchise to truly blend Sci-fi & horror elements in which is the Terminator films, our 80’s & 90’s babies already know what time it is.📼 This is so dope because it doesn’t matter if you a “nerd”, if you gngsta, or if you’re gothic, you’ll probably find these kinds of pieces sick either way, which already unites different types of people from all walks of life💯 #nostalgia #90s #terminator #80s #drip by @gngstanostalgia
So dope💯🔥 Shout out @fatalffects for this gngsta 8-bit arcade cabinet style edit🕹️ #nostalgia #90s #vintage #80s #edits by @gngstanostalgia
Shout out our 80’s babies, with Gen Z being introduced to the Predator film franchise as a whole with the new Predator: Badlands movie dropping just a few months ago⏮️ Let’s rewind to 2015, when Mortal Kombat X was still fresh, with the First Kombat (DLC) pack being dropped in the next following months in which we’d be getting Jason Voorhees from the Friday The 13th Films first, then Predator dropping a little bit after. 🔥 The Mortal Kombat franchise has always been Horror-adjacent for a fighting game, so Horror icons are a natural fit for the roster🩸 People growing up around this time got to experience Jason Voorhees, Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Predator and even Alien from the Alien film franchise in a fighting game, which was the coolest thing for film fanatics, gamers, and horror fans alike. 💯 For the first time you could pit Predator VS Alien and players could emulate the Alien VS Predator movies from just playing this game🎬 We’re saving Alien’s appearance for a next post though. 📼 Shout out to @nohearthazzy for the Scorpion gameplay🎮 #throwback #nostalgia #horror #didyouknowthis #fy by @gngstanostalgia
Michael Jordan wasn’t the only baller to collaborate with iconic characters back then⏮️ In 2005, the Fantastic Four movie with Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans & Michael Chiklis dropped🔥 with the NBA finals also dropping for that year. 🏀 The NBA and Marvel worked together to release this dope commercial to promote the Play-offs & the new Fantastic Four movie at that time on ABC📼 which some viewers were lucky enough to see live on their TV💯 #throwback #nostalgia #vintage #didyouknowthis #fy by @gngstanostalgia
Nostalgia is gngsta⏮️ Why? It never truly dies out or goes out of style, from the fashion, media, video games, music, etc, all that is timeless💯 Here we showcase gems and relics of the past, whether it’s from 80s, 90s, 2000s or maybe just a few years ago from today💎 Perfect example would be our logo which is directly inspired on the now defunct Blockbuster🎟️ made by @fatalffects 🎨 #90s #y2k #nostalgia #throwback #fy by @gngstanostalgia
