Sending a lot of love and strenght to all the beings of sad tunes who are loving their land and caring for our beautiful natural home called Earth but living and suffering under these unfair systems made by evil and materialistic powers that are destroying this planet and everything what’s beautiful on it. Tomorrow on 29th of August, while being in gallery LOOK! all day long I will also showcase my video work from San Roque de Cumbaza in Peru where I stayed for one month and visited wonderful Kichwa Lamista indigenous people where their beautiful member Petrona taught me their ceramics technique. 🤍🌿 Full video will be on view tomorrow at @look.itsagallery as part of my exhibition “Spārnu vēdas”.

Liels paldies Āraišu ezerpilij! 🤍

Vakardien, apciemojot Āraišus un kopā ar mammu Marlēnai @mylesdesigns izrādot mūsu senās būves, darbiniecei uzjautāju par krāsu mēles dobi, par kuru jau pagājušogad Somijā stāstīju konferencē, kurā runāju par Baltijas tradicionālajiem augu krāsu pigmentiem.

Uzzināju, ka dobes diemžēl vairs nav. Taču, kad darbiniece uzzināja, ka mani interesē šis augs un pati nodarbojos ar krāsošanu ar augu pigmentiem, viņa sameklēja un man uzdāvināja sēklas, kas ievāktas tieši šeit. 🥹

Un izrādījās, ka viņa pati arī bija tā, kas Āraišu Ezerpilī šo krāsu mēli atgrieza un audzēja!

Vēl joprojām nespēju noticēt, ka tā gadījās. Tik ilgi jau esmu vēlējusies iegūt Latvijā audzētas krāsu mēles sēklas, bet nezināju, kur doties un kam par tām jautāt, jo šodien šis augs dabā ir ļoti reti sastopams un diemžēl Latvijas Sarkanajā grāmatā ierakstīts. Un te - pavisam nejauši, apciemojot Āraišus, tās pašas atradās pie cilvēka, kas tās reiz bija te audzējis. 🥹

Tā manā vārda dienā sanāca tik negaidīta un īpaša dāvana. 🤍

A big thank you to Āraiši Lake Castle! 🤍

Yesterday, while visiting Āraiši and showing @mylesdesigns our ancient structures, I asked one of the staff members about the dyer’s woad bed, which I had actually mentioned last year at a conference in Finland, where I spoke about traditional plant-based pigments of the Baltics.

I found out that the bed unfortunately no longer exists. But when the staff member learned that I was interested in this plant and that I work with plant-based dyes myself, she went to look for some seeds and gave me a little gift — seeds that had been collected right here. 🥹

And it turned out that she herself was the person who had grown the dyer’s woad at Āraiši!

I still can’t believe this happened. I had been wanting to get seeds of dyer’s woad grown in Latvia for such a long time but it is very endangered species here today - listed in Latvian Red Data book, so I had no idea where to go or who to ask. And then, completely by chance, while visiting Āraiši, they came to me from the very person who had once grown them there. 🥹

So, on my Name day, I ended up receiving such an unexpected and special gift. 🤍 taken in Āraišu ezerpils Arheoloģiskais parks by @hele.heli

Towards The Sun…
There used to be a big ash-tree growing at this place. Its branch was a favourite seat for the Latvian Deity Laima. Once, when there was no spring yet, Laima sat on a branch and cried bitterly. The White Father went by and asked:
“Why are you crying?”
Laima said: “I feel sorry about those poor people. I have wished long life and good health for them but they are attacked by evil diseases and my wish can’t come true.”
So the White Father wished that tears of Laima would heal all those people.
Since then, a spring has been flowing towards the sun from the place where Laima cried. taken in Bolēnu Avots by @hele.heli
